Somethings off...

Have you had one of those days where something just felt off, but you didn't know what it was?  I had and am still having that kind of day today.  I don't feel right, something is off and I can't put my finger on what it is.  Sigh.  Not sure what to do or think, I guess these are the times where getting quiet and talking to God is important.  I need to have a good one on one with him.  I have so much on my heart and my mind, I do need to just release.

Well here is the food for the day.  Now that reflect on my emotions & feelings for the day I see why I ate as I did.

Breakfast
     Black coffee
     2 hard boiled eggs
     2 slices of bacon

Lunch
     Grilled Chicken
     Broccoli
     Squash

Dinner
    The leftovers from lunch

Workouts
45 mintes of Street Rider bike ride @ Santa Monica

One thing I notices while I was riding is that there was salt coming out of my pores.  That has not happened to me in a long long time.  I guess those pieces of bacon was enough to add too much salt to my system?  I am glad I got a good sweat in so I can flush out my system.  Gotta increase my water intake so I can flush it all out.  Well that is all for now.  I am off to the chicken to make some fish.  Cod to be exact.  Will take a few days off from eating chicken.  I love fish!

Saturday Stride to Santa Monica!

Well gang I made it back to Venice Beach to use my vouchers for the StreetStrider bikes.  It was alot better this time!  The lady gave us 8 speed bikes as opposed to the 3 speed bikes.  The 8 speeds are definately easier to ride!  I had a really good time.  We rode from Venice Beach past the Santa Monica Pier.  Round Trip I believe its like 4 miles!

Tried a new recipe today.  It's my variation of the Cold Tomato Summer Vegetable Soup Recipe.   The Recipe is below.  The recipe seems simple, but it was time consuming to cut all the veggies.  I tried to stick everything in the food processor, but I only have a 3 cup processor.  So that added to my slowness.  So far I like it.  the receipe indicates it taste better the day aftter.  So I will try it tomorrow and see how everything thing taste once all the seasonings mingle.

Cold Tomato Summer Vegetable Soup Recipe

Note, dad says to chop the zucchini finer than what is pictured in the photo.

Ingredients

  • 6 fresh, ripe tomatoes, seeds removed (cut tomatoes in half, squeeze out seeds into a sieve over a bowl to catch the juice, use the juice, discard the seeds), chopped
  • 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, chopped fine
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped fine (left out)
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped fine (left out)
  • 1 Tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (left out)
  • 2 zucchini, chopped fine
  • 1/2 medium sweet onion, chopped fine
  • 1-2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 cups tomato juice (in addition to the juice made when you squeezed the tomatoes above)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (left out)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup sherry vinegar (used apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano (or pinch of dry)
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable broth (left out)
  • Hot sauce if needed (used chili pepper flakes)

Method

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Use the additional tomato juice to thin the soup to desired consistency. Adjust seasonings to taste. Better the next day.

Had Some Crazy Fun!

Well gang...I made it through my StreetRider Experience and my re-introduction to Rowing.  So lets starting with rowing.  I have a picture & a little amatuer Iphone video.  But boy..that bike was hard to get started.  It required both arm and foot movement to get it going.  It took me a while to get the thing to move.  Then once I started moving I was always veering to the left.  Its funny to see how as humans are brains are programmed.  In my mind, I was thinking use the handles to steer, but the handles are not for steering.  To turn on the bike you need to shift your body weight!  So it took me a little while to register with my slow brain!  When I got moving, I played around with the shifting of body weight to turn and by George...I got it!  Finally!  I will say that it was tiring and hard, but it is very cool once you get going!  You can even coast on it.  I have 4 more rentals at StreetStriderla so I will definately be doing it again!  I have an amateur video from my Iphone.  Enjoy!

Rowing...I am not sure if I was blogging back when I was rowing down in Long Beach.  But now that I am up in L.A. I found a place to do indoor rowing.  IrowFitness on La Ceinaga.  They offered and intro class on Saturday so I had to check it out.  I forget the instructors name, but he was very good at teach us the technique so we dont injure ourselves!  So this has rekindled my love for rowing!  The only thing I am not happy about, is the times they had group classes, I can't make it.  I am gonna see if they will implement a Saturday class!

So the eats:

Breakfast
     Coffee
     Fuji Apple

Lunch..a concoction of my mind!     For some odd reason, tomatoes & cucumbers had been on my brain.  My mind conjusred up dicing the two items together with some lemon juice, salt & pepper.  So my friends that is what I did.  Let me tell ya..it was the shiznit!
     1/4 of a cucumber
     1 whole tomato
      juice of 1/2 lemon
      salt & black pepper
Dinner: Skipped busy doing dinner & being domestic.  Didn't even think about eating.

Workouts
Streetrider (not sure of total minutes on it, I certainly did not stay on the bike for an hour)
     Indoor Rowing - 30 minures
