Moving it Mondays!

Well today in my book...TOTAL AWESOMENESS!
Downtown L.A. Stairs
Eating was not great..but I did something today that I absolutely hate doing...stairs! Back 4 years ago, I used to be forced into walking stairs in downtown L.A. It was something I really despised. Today I said, I am getting on those stairs and I will do 4 rounds. I completed those 4 rounds today. And in all honesty, it was a challenge but doable!

I had another session today on the Turbo Sonic machine.  My session time seems to go by so fast.  I am still enjoying it though.  Today I felt my blood flowing.  It is wierd to explain but I felt like I could feel the blood moving in my vessels!

So here's the eating (the good, bad, & the worse) for the day:

Breakfast:
     4 scrambled eggs
      apple

Mid AM Snack
     Strawberries

Lunch
     2 chicken Breast
     Corn on the Cobb
     Mac N Cheese

Mid Afternoon Snack
     can of Pepsi
snack back of Cheddar & Sour Cream Chips

Dinner
2 slices of Pizza (1 vegeterian & 1 pepperoni)

Workouts
  1. Downtown Stairs - 4 rounds http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/p5R55iPmNFY
  2. 45 minute Walk - almost 3 miles in Downtown Los Angeles  http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/p5R55iPmNFY
This day would have been a win win if I did better on my eating.  But I am still proud of me doing the stairs today and at least getting 2 workouts in!  Well that is all for now.  I forgot to weigh myself this morning.  I will do that tomorrow morning.

Gloomy Saturday off to a Good Start

I usually look forward to my weekends.  Weekends are very important to me.  THis is Saturday is rather gloomy, it looks like it wants to rain, I know there is supposedly rain in the forecast for Sunday.  Despite the gloominess of the weather I did make it out for a walk this morning!  It was struggle though, I really didn't want to go!

I walked around the forum, completed 3 laps and at the end of each lap I did 50 crunches and finished out the workout with some stretching.  So overall not a bad gig.  I accidentally stopped my Endomondo Tracker before the workout was over, but the 3 laps at the forum is about 2.25 miles.
Here is the workout summary:

That is all or now...hopefully I can get another workout in and maintain good eating habits for the day so the workouts are not for nothing!  Happy Saturday!

Operation Hair Growth!

In case you are wondering what my hair growth has to do with my weight loss blog...hmm it doesn't! But I did put on my 2012 Undertakings list that I wanted to take better care of my hair and allow it to grow.  So yesterday I did a little work on my hair.  And by saying I, I mean Yazmin!  LOL!

Well yesterday, I have my hair timmed.  It was needed, though my hair is shorter than it has been in years, it needed a good chop!  So my hair is shoulder length...not a bad place to start off.  I will take a picture of it so I have some progress reports to post.

I also decided to color my hair.  I know that does not sound like it was a wise choice, maybe it isn't, but ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of having red hair.  When I got out of high school I made the attempt to go red, bleached my hair, re-dyed it red, and guess what?  It was orange!  So I don't have that horror story to tell this time.  I actually enjoy the shade of red adn I am surprised how noticeable the color is, even though my hair was not lightened in anyway shape or form!

That is all I have for this post, I just wanted to document the date that I started attacking something on my Undertaking list.  Stay Tuned!

Hump Day Recap

Well today Wednesday was a lot better than yesterday.  Still not a perfect day, but a move in the right direction.

Breakfast:  Croissant & White chocolate Latte

Mid AM Snack:  The rest of my tomato, broccoli, carrot juice

Lunch:  Kale Salad (Kale, cucumbers, tomato, Feta Cheese, apple cider vinegar)

Mid After Noon Snack:  Beet & Apple Juice

Dinner:   Salad (lettuce, cabbage, carrots) & 1 chicken breast

Physical Activity:
  • 60 minutes of water aerobics
  • Total Body Vibration Machine, well I know it is technically not excercise, but since they claim its just like excercising, I am calling it exercise!   I attempted to record myself while on the machine with my Iphone.  So here is a snap of the machine and a little clip of me on the machine.  The machine is surprisingly quiet and seriously all I do is stand and let the machine vibrate!

Well I think that is all for tonight. Time to watch my shows tidy up a bit and get to bed.  Until next time.  Tata.

Self Control: Where Are You?

I was going to blog last night..the pending question of the day was "Where is my Self Control?"  Yesterday was just a day of mindless eating.  The thought of stopping myself never even crossed my mind.  So Self Control Where are You?  I need you...oh so badly!

Well the morning actually started off okay.  I had such great intentions of sticking to my food plan, I was gonna go run and do some weights, but I can't pinpoint what made me veer off track.

Breakfast:     3 Scrambled Eggs w/ Spinach w/ cupe of White Chocolate Latte

Mid AM Snack:     Tomato, Broccoli & Carrot Juice (it was hard to get down)

Lunch:  A co-worker brought me some tacos.  I ate 3 steak tacos, with lots of Pico De Gallo.  Then my Sees Candy order that I made for another co-workers fundraising thing came in, so then there was constant popping of nut chews, and various types of Sees Candies.

Dinner:  10 Hot Wings, French Fries & a Coke from Rally's.  I'm not going to even lie, it tasted absolutely deliscious!

The day ended with time at bible study, time at the laundromat, time in personal reflection.  Self Control....where are you?

Whole Body Vibration Session #2

I know it may seem odd, that I would do such a thing.  I even suprise myself but my second session of my Whole Body Vibration Therapy was yesterday.  When I got there it appears that the power had gone out in the building and recently turned back on. There was a sign by the elevators that said, the power is being restored, please use the stairs.  So of course I said CRAP, I have to walk up 3 flights of stairs!  No joke, I was breathing hard and struggling to get up those flights of stairs!

Okay so I finally made it up the stars and into the Chiropractic office.  I get into the room with the machine and did my 10 minute session.  The machine this office uses is the Turbo Sonic Professional.  This session seemed to be more intense than my first session, I am not sure why, but it did.  Maybe the stairs?  So far I am enjoying it, I can't sense if anything is really happening, but so far I see no harm in it, so I will keep trying it.

If you are interested there are several videos on YouTube about Whole Body Vibrations, but here is one that talks about its benefits.  http://youtu.be/dPOSGhBEOmc  and http://youtu.be/0FDYLqsfRlA

Whole Body Vibrations

Hmm...I am sure many are puzzled by the title, but fret not I will explain.  These last couple of days I have ventured out to try something new.  I saw a special on Truebates for Whole BOdy Vibrations sessions at ChiroMassage Centers.  I honestly don't know much about what it does, but I know they say one of hte benefits is weight loss....so I had to try it!  I took my first session on Friday.  It was a bit ackward at first feeling every part of me shake and vibrate like crazy!  I could even see my checks shaking!  I have 7 sessions so I will see how this goes.

I am still struggling with my eating.  I am making some bad eating choices, which I don't understand.  I undo all my physical excercise by making bad food choices!  Oye!  When will I learn!

Today, I had another awesome rowing class!  And by awesome, I mean, hard as hell!  LOL!  Man it was a tough session.  I wanted to quit 20 minutes into class and in addition to having bad cramps, I was struggling.  But I made it through, I am not sure how, but I did.  I tracked my meters today and I did 7314 meters, which is about 4.5 miles.  http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/gCIG6QaVnyk

So my distance is getting better, and I noticed my split times are getting better.  Well that is all I have for now.  I am just laying here on my heating pad waiting for hte advil to kick in and take my back pain & cramps away.

Weekly Recap...

Sometimes keeping up with this blog is such a task!  The week has gotten away from me.  I can't believe it's already Thursday. This week I have not been able to juice.  So I am trying to stick to my salads and healthy eating.  My workouts have been side tracked by some crappy weather!  I only got to do water aerobics and I went for a little walk today!  I have really fallen in love with water aerobics!  The instructor of my water aerobics class also teaches swimming.  So I wonder if I remember how to swim?  Does one forget after learning?

I am excited for the days ahead, no particular reason but I am.  I have spent some time this week budgeting and trying to get my finances in order.  As I tackle health, I must also tackle my credit scores!  Boy they are horrendous.  I am have been running around blinly spending money unnecesarily.  I had no idea how much I was paying for cable or how much some of my utility bills were!  So it is financial dieting time.  I was able to switch my cable plan to save on the monthly payment.  Little by little I will do better on my finances.

Today I went to a farmers market.  On my juicing venture, many people say farmers market prices are cheaper than grocery stores.  Well that is so not the case here in Los Angeles.  Everything that I would normally by from Sprouts or Food for Less was higher at the Farmers Market!  I need to find a way to juice in a cost effective way.  I think I may have to do some smoothies, at least that way I can do frozen fruits, which I can buy in bulk.

Well I don't have muc more to report.  But I am happy that I got outside and got a nice walk in.  So here is my Endomondo route:  http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/42509276

That's all for now!

Lost Track...

The days are going by way way too fast.  Just thought it would take a moment to update on the happenings.  The juicing is going okay.  I don't know if I have lost any weight yet, but I definately feel the difference in my energy level.  I am struggling with letting go of the caffiene. I always intended to not have coffee in the morning, but I always give into the cravings!    Today I went without coffee this morning and struggled all day with a headache that would not go away.  Advil did not help it at all.  So I ended up drinking soda and the headache went away!  I must stop giving in to the cravings!

Juicing as I mentioned is going well.  I made a juice with Brussel Sprouts on Thursday I believe.  It tasted okay, but it made me very very gassy.  Friday I did a blend of spinach and apples and that was delicious.  One thing I notice with the spinach is that I don't get alot of juice from the spinach.  I had to juice a whole lot of spinach to get 12 ounces of juice.

Made it back to rowing class today, and boy that class is still tough.  its an awesome workout, but its still a struggle!  So that is all for now.  Not much more to report.  See you on the lip side.

Quick Recap of Tuesday March 6th

Well this morning juicing adventure was not too pleasant.  I overslept, but I was determined to juice before I left the house.  In my rush I made many many mistakes, and a huge mess!  I had such a rough time and after all my struggles, I left my juice at home! Today I did attempt to juice 2 juices this morning.  The first juice was my normal, apple & celery.  Then I did Apple & Beets. Surprisingly, the apple & beets is pretty tasty, I have never been a fan of beets, but I tihnk I like better juiced than eating the veggie.

Jacked up Day...But Juicing Begins!

Well folks I will start with hte drama of the day!  Eww.
  1. A friends 17 year old nephew got shot in the head today.
  2. A friend had a court date today regarding getting her kids back and that did not got well.  Friend is upset and back doing her thang.  Sad!
I know all things happen for a reason, we all have a choice.  But it still affects me to see people hurting especially when a child is lost.  Heavy day!

I am happy to report this is my first day every juicing twice in the day!  The day did not go as I planned, but with all things, I know I will have this perfected and planned out to a tea.  My goal for the upcoming 7 days is to Juice my breakfast and Dinner.  Eat lunch which will consist of salad, and if I have the munchies juice if am able or eat fruit & veggies.

Day 1 of this little plan did not go according to schedule! I juiced this morning before gong to work, but consumed all the juice before leaving the house.  But by 10am I had kicked up such a hunger and had no fruits or veggies with me at work...I ended up eating, girl scout cookies, coffee, and ritz crackers!  I got an F on my first day!

My breakfast juice receipe was my staple drink...Celery & apples!
I juiced for dinner another detox recipe which is my first time trying.  Apple & beets.
The recipe called for 1/2 beet and 3 apples.
I really really hate beets, so I was a bit iffy about this, but the juice actually taste good!  And it has a cool purple color!  Ha Ha!  That is all I have for you tonight, I am tired and it's way pass my bed time. Talk to you later!

Inspired by a Movie

Well for quite some time, My friend the PolyVegan, has been telling me, I should watch a film called Fat Sick and Nearly Dead.  I finally watched it today...on my Kindle!  It was free! Have I mentioned how much I love my kindle?

I first want to say that film was very well done!  I was truly an honest, heartfelt, sincere work!  When Phil got to talking about his life and his struggles and his divorce and how sick he was of himself...I was in tears.  He could really see he was at his end.  I was truly inspired by Phil's story more so, than Joe's.  And I love how he is paying it forward, by helping his brother and his community!  I love it!

So now that the movie is over and I am browsing the website, I am asking myself, Is this something I can see myself committing too.  Can I really do this for 30 days, 60 days?  In all honesty..I don't know.  But I think I can at least do it for 7-10 days.  They did have a lady do it on the video for 7 days, and you could see a change in her skin and appearance just from the 7 days of juicing.  I'm signing myself up for a 7-day stint!

I do have a juicer, and I have just been an occasional juicer.  I have only been juicing celery & apples since I got it as a recipe for detoxing.  So after watching the video, I headed to the juicer and made my celery & apple juice.

Recipe:
     2 stalks of celery
2 apples (normally I use 1 apple, but these apples were small)
Juice & serve!
Pre-Juicing
