The Roller Coaster of Life...

Well here it is Thursday and I have not made any posts!  Life has happened and distracted me from every plan and schedule that I (the dreaded word) have made for myself!

The week started off with my landlord calling on Tuesday evening saying that he & the city have to come and do an inspection on my place on Wednesday!  So I had that oh crap...response.  So Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, I am frantically trying to cleaning and repair things in my place!  I know this sounds so ghetto, but in the winter, every time I turned on the heater my smoke detectors would go off.  So I had disconnected each and every smoke detector in my apartment!  So I had to first...find where I put the smoke detectors and hook them all back up.  And shamefully, and honestly, I admit, I had have been in a slobbish state for like 2 weeks and I really needed to tend to my cleaning up!  Sucks that I had to do it in such a short span, but at least I can say its done.  I do need to scrub the kitchen floors, and do the sink of dishes, but for the most part...the majority of the house work is done.

Last night I had gotten tickets for a Comedy show.  So of course after work, I had to run home, change and head back out to Hermosa Beach for the show!  So no working out again!  But in all honesty, I had such a great time at that show!  I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard!  It was 2 straight hours of straight laughter!

For the most part I have stuck to my planned meals.  Last night, I did veer off of it with a Sausage, Egg & cheese McMuffin on Wednesday and Taco Bell & Eggs Rolls at the Comedy Club.  I was able to cook on Monday so I had some extra food to add into the rotation of salad.

If all goes back to my original plan...I should be able to get myself into the gym tonight.  I have tutoring tonight, so I hope I can do my tutoring and still have the energy to get into the gym.  That is all I have for you.  Nothing exciting to report just a quick update of what is happening this week.

My Sky Zone Experience

Well folks, I made it out to Sky Indoor Trampoline Park in Gardena for a morning of Sky Zone Aerobics!   How would I describe it?

INTENSE!!!!!

The class is an hour long!  The time went by really fast, and my class was full of beginners, so there was alot of the blind leading the blind.  The idea of jumping on a trampoline alway intrigued me, that is why I wanted to try the class.  I did not do alot of the things she asked us to do, I am just not that flexible.  But in addition to jumping on the trampoline, there was push ups, squats, mountain climbers, jump jacks, and so much more...all done on the trampoline!

My one regret is that I didn't take anyone with me!  I would have loved to get photos of myself on the trampoline for the blog!  I would never in a million years think I would be doing such a thing!

I was exhausted at one point and made the mistake of looking at the clock.  It was only 14 minutes into the class!  A great workout...everyone says it was fun.  The fun did not kick in for me though.  I openly admit, I was scared to do alot of things.  I was so afraid to fall!  I think I could have gotten a whole lot more out of hte class if I had just let loose, and not been so fearful.  But Fret not...I will try again!

Overall a great experience, and if there is a Sky Zone Trampoline Park in your area, give it a try!  Your first class is Free!

Here is a few shots of the inside of Sky Zone in Torrance.  My bad...I did not get a shot of the trampolines!  I will do better next time!

Inside of Sky Zone...sorry it's blurry
Inside of Sky Zone
Well this will probably be it from me for the weekend.  Gonna take a shower and hit Macys and see what else I can get into today.  Have a great Weekend!

Feeling the Pain Friday!

Quick post as I start off this weekend!

Started off this morning juicing!  I threw together the follow items:
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 beet
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 5 handfuls of Trader Joes Greens Mix (collard & mustard greens, spinach)
Before & After Juice shots

It made a delightful morning beverage!  It was not a sweet juice, I think next time I will add another apple.  I could taste the mustard greens in the juice, they have a spicy taste. It was a nice change!

Lunch..we had our office potluck.  I ate 2 hot links, some Sour Cream & onion chips and a can of coke.  Dinner was a slice of Meat Lovers Pizza.

I went to see Men In Black 3 after work.  It was okay...not that great.  Then I made it over to the Avenue for their Memorial Day Weekend Sale.  They have buy one get one free.  So I got 2 summer dresses!

So the topic of this post is Feeling the Pain...beleive me, I am feeling the pain from yesterday's kickboxing venture.  I feel it all in my legs, not too much in my arms at all!  So now for sure, I know I got a good workout in.  I am sore in part of my legs I have never been sore before!

That's all for now. No excercising today. Tomorrow I go to Sky Zone for Sky Zone Aerobics!  I am scared and excited all at the same time!

KO'd by Kickboxing!

Kickboxing Room
I finally made it to Kickboxing class!  I chickened out of class on Monday, and I almost did the same today!  I am very glad I went.  I got to the gym about 4pm; class started at 4:30.  The instructor came in and I went to talk to him.  I told him it was my first time and he said...and I quote, "Oh okay, well Move at your own pace, do what you can, do you have gloves".  I said yes, I have gloves.  I am gonna try this and when I feel like I am going to pass out, I'll leave!  He says, "You are not in competition with anyone else.  Move at your own pace.  Some people leave early, some people come in late.  But do what you can.  As you come more, you'll be able to do more!"  I was standing there with my jaw on the floor!  I think that is the first time any Group Excercise Instructor had that attitude!  I am glad he said that, it made me feel comfortable and let me work at my own pace without feeling like I had to keep up with the crew!  Class was intense, in addition to the boxing and kickboxing moves, we had drills.  We had to run, jumping jacks, lunges, squats...etc.  You get the point.  He kept us moving!  I liked the class though!  I will have to make it a regular thing on the schedule!  I just hope I will be able to walk and move my arms on Friday!

Here are the eats for the day (overall not a good food day)

Breakfast:  Sausage McMuffin & Hashbrown from McDonalds; White Chocolate Latte

Mid Am Snack:   Apple
Salmon & Mustard Greens
Lunch:  Salmon & Turnip Greens;
              Slice of Red Velvet Cake

Dinnner:  Sad to say after I did kickboxing...I went to KFC!  Horrible food choice I know.  But I had to get Coleslaw for the potluck at work, it only made sense that I would grab dinner while I was there!  I had 2 pieces of chicken, potato wedges, & corn on the cob!

After Dinner Eats:  Apple & Celery juice; Good for re-hydrating the body.  I made a nice big 20 ounce glass of juice and I am sipping it and blogging at the same time!

Workout:
60 minutes of Kickboxing
10 minutes of Treadmill (trying to make time pass before kickboxing started)

I have been and am always intrugued by the benefits of certain fruits and veggies!  So I decided to share with you the health benefits of both celery & apples.  Who would have thought something so simple as an apple and celery could do so much for our health

Health Benefits of Celery
Some of the many health benefits of celery include:
  • A rich source of sodium and potassium the juice of celery makes an excellent electrolyte replacement drink, ideal for both dieters and to rehydrate the body after a hard work out.
  • Calming and stress releasing - lowers blood pressure.
  • Contains coumarin compounds that are said to have anti-cancer properties, and may help migraines.
  • A natural diuretic, helping to flush toxins from the body.

Health Benefits of Apples

The well known saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" may well be true! Apples are great in juices, but to make the most of their amazing cleansing and detoxifying properties be sure to eat them whole with their peel, and add them to smoothies and puddings too. Apple skins contain anti-cancer chemicals, and beta-carotene.
Apples are rich in pectin a type of soluble fiber which can:
  • Remove toxic metals such as lead, mercury, and aluminum from the body.
  • Improve the health of the intestines.
  • Help reduce high cholesterol.
Apples and their juices:
  • help protect the lungs from the damage caused by smoking.
  • contain malic and tartaric acids which reduce the spread of bad bacteria in the guts, and reactivate beneficial gut bacteria. Studies at Cornel University discovered apple extracts reduce colon cancer by over 40%.
  • have a high mineral content, and are great for healthy skin, fingernails, and hair.
Well that is all for me tonight.  Time to get quiet and go to bed.  I won't be staying up late tonight, and hopefully I don't walk up at midnight again.

Struggling To Get Over The Hump

For some odd reason I am up at Midnight!  This is not usual for me.  Here is a recap of - Hump Day!  It started off rather rocky!  I over slept this morning and got to work late!  I think that Precor machine got the best of me.  I was just knocked out completely.  Not much to report so I will attempt to keep this short and to the point:

Breakfast:   Salad & Coffee
Mid Am Snack:  Cake (Yes....cake~)
Lunch :  Chicken with Broccoli Pasta; can of coke
Mid Afternoon Snack:  Apple & Celery Sticks
Dinner: Rice, Chicken, Pinto Beans
Late Night Snack:  Homemade Berry Smoothie W/ Flax Seed

Chicken & Broccoli Pasta (w/ salsa)
 Workout:
45 minutes of Indoor Cycling
Frankie is back from her 2 week hiatus!  I really enjoy her as a teacher! Again..class was hard..it sucks how difficult it is to get back in the swing of things after not doing anything for a week.  When I got on the bike  and we started our warm up...I noticed that I was sore in my legs!  I guess those 8 minutes on the Precor did something!

The Things I Get Myself Into

I woke up this morning feeling rested.  It was not much of struggle getting up this morning.  Is this the benefit of getting back on my routine?  Must be!  I woke up this morning and started the morning off...JUICING!  It has been a while since I juiced! I like juicing in the morning so I can get all those micro-nutrients in my system while on an empty stomach!  I made my simple juice...nothing complex, just some apples & celery
Apple & Celery Juice
The juice was very refreshing, it did not taste as good as my other apple & celery juices.  I am so used to Gala Apples which are a little bit sweeter, but this time I used good old fashioned, plain jane, red delicious apples!  The taste in teh juice was noticeable different, but still healthy and a nice way to start off my morning!

4am Early Morning Breakfast: Glass of Apple Celery Juice

7:30am Breakfast:  Scrambled Eggs w/ Mustard Greens  (such a delicious combination)

Mid Morning Snack:  Watermelon

Lunch:  Chicken, Lentils & Mustard Greens

Afternoon Snack:  Celery Sticks & a Kiwi

Dinner:  Chicken, Rice & Pinto Beans

Workouts:
Today on my workout schedule was my Running Plan....I got on the treadmill and starting my 3 minute Walk/3 minute jog intervals and again my shin splints flared up!  Just like last time it was just in my left leg!  The pain was killing me...so I stopped after 25 minutes!  The pain was too much.

Treadmill Stats:
     Time: 25:05
     Distance:  1.50 miles

So since my shins were acting up I said, self, let's get on this Precor Machine.  I was not sure what it was, it was near the elliptical machines, but It did not look like a regular elliptical machine! Umm...I don't know why I do this to myself, but that machine was killer!  I punked out after 8 minutes and in those 8 minutes I burned 55 calories according to the machine!  At one point while I was on the machine, I put my hand on the heart rate reader and it said my heart rate was 226!  I know those things are not accurate, but I know my heart rate was way higher than it's used to being!
Blurry..hear rate reading
So this morning I took it upon myself to google the Machine from the gym.  The console just said, Precor 100i.  I could not find any information on it on the Precor website, but it is listed on Amazon as the Precor AMT 100i Adaptive Motion Trainer.  I found a little video on YouTube about it...The machine is a good workout, but very very difficult!  I will have to try to do it again and maybe shoot for 10 minutes!

Monday Recap

Monday started off with such promise, such motivation, such hope!
But as you can figure things did not go according to plan!  I don't have much to report other than, I went home after work with the intention of changing and hitting the gym to go kickboxing and well, I fell asleep!  Ha Ha!  Only me!  All those minutes I spent yesterday morning planning out a workout schedule for the week!

Well here is the eats for the day...

Breakfast: Quaker Oatmeal

Mid AM Snack:  Chobani Pomegranate Greek Yogurt & an apple

Lunch:  My salad

Mid Afternoon Snack:  Quaker Granola Bar & A Snickers!  (I know, I should slap myself)

Okay I can't group the rest of my food into a meal cause I never sat down and actually cooked a meal.  I got home, and after my nap I grazed like one of those Happy Cows in the cheese commercials!  I was not "hungry"  but I just keep snacking!

Random Grazing after 5pm:

  • Chicken Breast
  • 2 Kiwi
  • Apple
  • Home-made Smoothie (w/ Flax Seed & Chai Seeds)
I made my way to Trader Joe's and Bristol Farms last night!  You all know how I am such a fan of Sprouts Farmers Market, but I must say, that I think I need to start visiting Bristol Farms a little more frequently!  I always have just pegged Bristol to be expensive...but I was actually able to find 2 produce items cheaper there than it is at Sprouts...Beets & Baby Bok Choy!  I also was able to find Fennel Bulbs in Bristols, and that is something I have not been able to find in Sprouts!  So last night I bought the beets...gonna juice 'em up!

My trip to Trader Joe's was somewhat uneventful...until I ran into the bagged salad section.  And they have a blend of Greens (Mustard Greens, Turnip Greens, Collard Greens, Spinach, & Kale)!  This made me very happy!  So I think I am officially set for everything I need for this week food wise.

That's all folks!  Talk to you later!

Back on the Bandwagon

Howdy guys.  So last week as you can see I punked out of any physical activities because of PMS.  So today I am getting back to the routine.  I am kind of disappointed in myself.  I knew I could have pushed through some of the PMS stuff and at least go for a walk, but I gave in!  Oh well, I will do better next month.  I promise!  Yesterday I was feeling okay, and I kept telling myself to go walk on the beach, but lazy me, didn't go out.  I guess even though I blamed it on PMS, I guess the real reason I didn't go work out all week, is just plain and simply...I DID NOT WANT TOO!  Let's just keep it real!

So this morning I scrambled around to make sure I had food rations in the office.  I can't get back on the regime without proper planning.  So last night, I actually managed to bake some chicken breasts.  4 to be exact..so I have enough chicken for a couple of meals.  So here is what I packed up this morning.
Here is the inventory.  The bowl with the blue lid, is a salad, thats my salad dressing bottle on the top of the bowl.  the flat bowl with the clear lid, is a baked chicken breast with some Lentils!  I heart lentils!  Some apples, grapefruit and some celery sticks. I am hoping this will keep me for 2 days at work.  This is just my work food.

I am in the midst of my own personal recession.  So this morning I am eating something, I normally don't like.  But today for some odd reason, it tasted pretty good.  I am eating Oatmeal!  This is helping me in my recession status because, they provide it free in our office lunchroom!  So I whipped up one of those Quaker Oatmeal packs in a cup and I eating and blogging at the same time!  I threw some Chia seeds in there, but I am impressed, I can tolerate this oatmeal!

I signed up for a challenge on Fitclick.  It was the 90-day Weight Loss Challenge.  I starts today, so  I am hoping it become something that will keep me motivated!   To win the challenge I need to have the highest percentage of weight loss!  So...this made me get on the scale this morning!  And all I can say is GASP!  I did not like the number that popped up!

Well this is turning out to be a long blog post!  Well just a few more things I want to mention.  I joined a running group called, Black Girls Run.  I am going to join them for my first run on Wednesday.  I also finally snagged up some cheap boxing gloves...thanks to Craiglist!  I paid a whole $10 for some almost brand new Everlast boxing gloves!  Kickboxing & Boxing....here I come!  Okay I am done babbling!  Talk to you guys later!

I Have Hit A Wall...

Well I feel like I have hit a wall...everything hurts.  I have no energy.  I am tired, I am grouchy, I am irritable....I AM SUFFERING FROM PMS!  UGH!

I don't know why I am so surprised.  I seem to be struck with these horrible symptoms every month.  Nothing I do ever seems to make them any better!  Last night I would up in the middle of the night, with the sharp shooting pains in my lower back, and the pre-cramping cramps...I couldn't even sleep good.  But I sit here at my desk and I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open.  I am so drained, I could seriously go back to bed and sleep for like another 8 hours!

So this is the week I will really need to push into exercise, I can't give into the low energy, the tiredness, and the sleepiness!

I am reminded of a poster a friend has on her blog
DISCIPLINE is doing what yo know needs to be done, even though you don't want to.
So I will try to discipline myself this week to still get some exercise in!  No punking out!

My Date with the Arc Trainer

As I said I would do I did make it into the gym.  I didn't do spin class, I just did 30 minutes of the Cybex Arc Trainer!  That machine was the death of me the last time I did it.  It has been a long long time since I tried it.  I didn't want to do my normal get on the treadmill routine today, so I opted for the Arc Trainer!
The Cybex Arc Trainer
So here is a picture of the machine from the company website.  http://www.cybexintl.com/products/cross-trainers.aspx  I remember the first time I got on this Machine I was at the 24 Hour Fitness in Carson, and I could barely get 15 minutes done!

Yesterday I stayed on the machine for a whole 30 minutes.  Much to my surprise the 30 minutes went by rather fast!  The console for this machine changes too fast I could not pull any data off of it after my 30 minutes was done!  It was a great workout for my legs, I need to spend more time toning those legs of mine!  Within about 20 minutes I was dripping with sweat!  I was wiping sweat off from my head both my arms, and my neck!  I have not sweat like that in a while...It was a great feeling!

Me After Workout
This is a pictured of me after working out.  I am not sure what my hair is doing..but my hair does not do well during workouts.  I always leave the gym looking like a crazy woman!  I don't know if you can see from the picture, but I had those wonderful sweat stains in my mid section!

Enough with my Workout and I will report what I ate for the day:

Breakfast:Bagel toasted w/ butter; Cup of French Vanilla Coffee w/ french vanilla cream

Mid Am Snack:  None

Lunch:  Salad (lettuce, cabbage, carrots, tomato, cucumbers, lemon juice, Italian dressing)

After Workout Eats:  Pollo Bowl from El Pollo Loco ( I amaze myself with this horrible food choices, especially right after working out!)

Later in the night eats:  More Salad

I had a good day today...I won a pair of movie tickets!  And I found out today that my friend is having a boy!  So much good stuff happening in the world!  That's all folks!  Talk to you later.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses

Here it is Thursday and all my workout plans and meal plans have gone haywire!  I have cancelled every scheduled workout and well..I cooked my meals brought them to work and for some odd reason, I find myself at Rally's, Popeyes, & ToGo's.  I woke up this morning thinking man, what a whirlwind of a week.  What happened.

So in true fashion I started blaming, meetings, appointments, People, etc.  Which in all honesty are just all excuses...really bad ones!  LOL!  I started to hear that little voice of my friend D, that always said to me, Kyra you have no excuse NOT to work out...your gym is open 24 hours a day!  What can I say truth hurts some times...but she is right!  I can get into 24 Hour Fitness at any time of day...I am w/o excuse!

So today, its time to get back to reality, time to get back on track.  I am gonna work out today.  I don't know I will make it to spin class, but I will be doing some form of activity for at least 45 minutes today.  I also started planning out next weeks strategy.  Next week should hopefully be better, not to many meetings, not to many appointments...I hope that does not change!

I am having thoughts of going back to water aerobics.  I think I may have to make a couple of visits next week @ 24 Hour Ftiness!  I noticed this morning that they will be closing down the gym for a few days to make some "improvements"  I am excited!  I can't wait to see what they will do!

That is all for now, just wanted to make a quick post, I will figure out the workout agenda for next week and get to it!  Thanks for reading! :0)

Hey Hey Hey

Its Monday night, and I have been missing in action for a bit!  I ended up not working out as much as I hoped too this past week!  Thursday & Friday I got extremely lazy!  Saturday was the LA's Best Cycling Fundraising event!  I had an awesome time!  I was very impressed with how well organized the event was!  They sent out event pictures today, and I was actually published in some pictures!  I was shocked!
Me @ Cycle for LA's Best

Team Afterschool Spinners
Believe it or not..the event was not as easy as I was expecting. We had 2 instuctors Chelsea & Nick. Nick was hard core! He did not take it easy on us, and neither did Chelsea for that matter! It was fun and a great workout! The Goodie bags were good! Overall a great event...definitely going to look for it next year!
To shock you...I actually went out later on Saturday and worked out! I did weight training. I have not done any weight training in a while. It was a bit difficult but here was the weight lifting routine.
Leg Press - 4 sets of 15; 190lbs
Back & Side Extensions 3 sets of 12
Latt Pull Downs - 3 sets of 15; 75lbs
Hip Adduction 2 sets of 50; 90lbs
Hip Abduction 4 sets of 25 90lbs

Now question of the day....Why is the abduction so much harder than the adduction? I was dying on those Abductions! I am sore as can be. So I know these beloved muscles of mine got a work out. I need to be more faithful to strength training. It really is one of my favorite things to do!

Random Post

Hiddy Ho there neighbor!
Well its a Saturday morning and I just got back in from doing Laundry!  Exciting stuff I know.  Today is the cycling charity event for LA's Best After School Program.  I have some time to kill before I leave for that so I thought I would give a quick update of the last few days.

2 Carnitas Tacos
Friday...I ate way too  much and didn't excercise!  We had Mexican Food ordered in for lunch!  And then we had Bagels from Panera Bread for Breakfast!  It was a day of Food, Food, and More Food!  We ordered the food from a Mexican Restaurant called Poquita Mas in Westwood.  It was my first time eating there.  The carnitas were excellent!   I made 2 carnitas tacos rice & black beans and of course had some chips w/ guacamole!  I was good eating!  I enjoyed every bit of it!

Rice & black beans
Thursday was a good food day.  I got lazy, and didn't go work out then either.  But I was struck with tempation in a major way on Thursday.   A lady in the office went out and picked up lunch for herself.  She came back intot hte off ice with a tuna melt & sweet potato french fries!  Those Sweet Potato French Fries Smelled Oh so delicious.  The smell of them made me hungry.  It took everything in me, not to go ask her for some fries!  It was hard sitting at my desk on Thursday, eat my crappy little salad!  I wanted sweet potato french fries!

Thats all for now, let me go put away my laundry before I get lazy!  Talk to you later!

Riding Over Hump Day!

I am gonna start this post off about talking about my Spin Class!  Frankie is out for 2 weeks so we had a sub.  His name was Carlos.  Carlos Carlos Carlos.  The class started and I noticed Carlos was not suiting up to get on a bike.  So I was like okay, Carlos is "one of those teachers"  I have had always had a personal issue with spin teachers that don't ride while teaching.  As of today...I no longer have an issue.  Carlos has broken the mold!

I felt like I was in a personal one-on-one spin class.  The Wednesday 3:30p class is rarerly full.  Today there was only 6 or 7 of us.  So while Carlos was walking the room, he spent time with each of us give us pointers and pushing us to the limits!  Carlos did somethings today that no other spin instructor has ever done to me before:
  1. He turned the tension up on my bike!
  2. He kept telling me add more tension!
  3. He said you can do this, just work with me!
So after todays Class with Carlos, I realize I have not been working to my full potentional in spin class!  For our 45 minutes of class, we did internval training, endurance training and one other thing, I can't remember.  Carlos also explained the purpose and goals of each training type.  He told us he is all about heart rate, and encourage use to get a heart rate monitor.  This is something i have been wanting to do, I guess I shall look into it.  Carlos did an excellent job today..I am sitting here, watching Criminal Minds, and I promise you this is the first time my legs are sore from spin class!

I pledge from this day forth, to put forth more of an effort in spin class!

Scrambled eggs & tomato.  A breakfast favorite
Breakfast:   I returned to an old favorite:  scrambled eggs & tomatoes!  White Chocolate Latte

Mid AM Snack:  Grapefruit

Lunch:  Salad

Dinner:  Baked Cod & Mixed Vegetables

After Dinner snack:  Cranberry juice & an apple

Dude...A Blogger App?

I am probably behind the times, but I am just noticing there is a Blogger App. So this is my test post on my Blogger App via my IPhone!

I have fat finger syndrome so I don't know how well this will work. But I'll give it a shot! I wonder how many typos I have already made. Lol.

I've tested out the photo feature by taking a picture of the plant on my desk. it's so pretty and it's the longest plant I have had in my possession without killing! Okay this officially ends my test blog!

Tata!

Tuesday Blues Day

I was in a funk most of the day.  I almost didn't go to the gym after work.  I walked out of the building and I kept having that conversation in my head...go to the gym, no I'm tired, I'm just gonna go home.   But Kyra If you don't go now, you know you are not gonna go later.  I know, I'll go to the gym now then.  But I really don't want to, I think I'll just go home.  Kyra just go to the gym and do what you are supposed to do.  Okay, I'll go. That was just a re-enactment of the conversation in my head.  LOL!

Here is the boring stuff, my eats for the day:

Breakfast:   the other 1/2 of my spicy Chipotle Burrito from El Pollo Loco

Mid AM Snack:  Large White Chocolate Latte (as you can see I was to quick to say I went a day without it)

Lunch:  Salad (lettuce, chicken, cabbage, tomato, cucumber, italian dressing); 4 Ritz Crackers

Dinner:  2 pieces of Popeys Chicken & 1 biscuit!  LOL!  It was so tasty!  I couldn't resist, it was 99cent Tuesday!

After Dinner Snack:  Granny Smith Apple, cheese crackers

So today's workout, was another installment of the Run Your Butt of Program.  I'm Still in Stage 4, which is the 3 minute walk, 3 minute run intervals. Stats wise, I am doing better.  I was able to run a bit faster this time and I felt okay.  And I was able to get in 2 miles in those 33 minutes, which is now my new personal goal.  I try to walk & jog faster so that I can at least get 2 miles in.

Treadmill Stats - I know I am in violation of the Run Your Butt of Program.  The book says not to focus on the data on the treadmill console, but I keep track anyways!  I am not obsessed with them but I try to do better every time I do the program.
Workout Time: 33 MInutes
Distance: 2.06 Miles
Calories Burned:712
How'd I feel:  I was okay, but I had some killer shin splints in my left leg!  And in all honesty, I don't even know if I could consider it a shin splint.  I could literally feel like a little muscle in the front of my leg was extremely tight.  Like it just did not want to stretch out and let my foot flex properly. I never went away, it stuck with me the whole 33 minutes on the treadmill!  But I made myself continue going!

Our weather here in California is overcast and rainy again, so trying the program outside has not yet happened. Hopefully our Summer weather rolls in soon, so I can train more outside and really be prepared for a 5k race!

Small Victory Monday!

I don't have much to write about today, but I wanted to record my small victory from yesterday, Monday April 30th.  I made it throughout the day without my White Chocolate Latte from Coffee Bean!  Hooray!  I surprisingly had no headaches, but I did feel a little low on energy yesterday, but all is well.

Monday was a rest day for me, I did not exercise.  I am rethinking my workout week.  So far, Sunday has been my rest day, but I may have to change that to Monday.  I am more likely to want to be active on the weekends, especially if the weather is nice.  So I will see how this week goes with changing up my schedule.

Not the best eat day, but here it is.

Breakfast:    Scrambled Eggs & a grapefruit

Lunch:  Salad (lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, chicken, Italian Dressing

Mid Afternoon Snack:  Chicken fingers (baked at home)

Dinner:  Spicy Chicken Chipotle Burrito, salad, chips & salsa from El Pollo Loco
Hey I know not the best dinner choice, but what can I do when its free dinner?  Last night we had one of our Walk Meetings for the Arthritis Foundation, and they always provide dinner.  It was good eats!

Well that is all for now!  Talk to you guys later!
