Sunny Days Ahead...Sunday June 26th

Hi...this is a late night post for me.  I was sitting here reflecting back on teh day and all that I am so blessed with and all that I am so grateful for.  The list is so long, I can't list it all.  But the feeling of hope, the sense of hope brings so much joy, and happiness.  I am very very very very very grateful that the spirit of discouragement is no longer present.  I realize today, well I actually realized in the past also, that all the negative self talk must stop.  I have allowed to speak negativity on myself which has cause much of my fear and insecurities to move forward and do.  I must be more aware of what I let come out of my mouth and really began to speak life to myself.  My future lies in my positive confirmations and speaking the promises of God over myself.  Speak Life....

Product Review: 7-11 Brewed Coffee

Well guys, I think the tie between me and Coffee Bean's White Chocolate Latte has been broken.  Its been 5 days since I bought one.  Over the weekend, I decided to give that good ole 7-11 coffee a run for its money.  I have heard its good, so I had to put it to the test.

On Saturday, I tried Brazilian Bold, I think it was called.    This stuff was the shiznit!

On Sunday, I tried French Vanilla.  It was good, but I preferred the Brazilian stuff from Saturday.

So it's official, like a referee with a whistle...7-11 coffee is A-Okay in my book!

Saturday June 18th recap

Hey...I know I am late posting.  But I went out last night!  So that will be the first thing I discuss.  I went to see a play called The Divorce produced by Don Welch.  It had all black actors in it, so I wanted to go see it.  ya know, support my peeps!   It was good, it very funny.  It was good to see some of the older actresses still perform.  Vanessa Bell Calloway, Dawn Lewis (from a Different World), Freda Payne, Dorien Wilson (from the Parkers), Tammi Mack from KJLH and even Tatyana Ali, was in it.  There were others, but I didn't really know who they are.  A little too much cursing..but the play was very well done.  I tried to catch a picture at the end of the play when the whole cast came out.  So lets see how good this picture quality is.

The other part of my evening was eating at The Counter.  I had never heard of this place until today.  But its a place where you can custom make your hamburger!  They have other fixed burger options on the menu, but what a great idea of being able to custom make a burger!  I loved when the waitress came by and debriefed us on how things worked with the burgers.  She finished up her shpeel with, we also have Milkshakes, and adult Milkshakes with alcohol in them!  Hilarious...Adult Milkshakes!  Oh, they also had the options on your fries to mix them.  You could get half regular fries half sweet potato fries, half fries half onion rings, etc.  Pretty cool spot, I wanna go back!  Here is a link to the restaurant:  http://www.thecounterburger.com/menu/

Okay so now that you know I ate burgers & French fries for dinner you can imagine how my eats were for the day.  So here we go:

Breakfast
     Black Coffee
     Orange

Lunch
    Salad w/ 2 Chicken Breasts

Mid afternoon munchies
   Sour Cream & Cheddar Chips

Dinner
My Custom Built Burger:  1/3lb meat, lettuce, pickles, bacon, avocado, with Franks Hot Sauce on a multi-grain bun! :0)  The multi-grain bun was to make me feel like I was eating healthy! LOL!
And of course an order of fries, which I had 1/2 regular & sweet potatoes.
Coke

So that's all.  Could have done better on my eats, but hey that was a durn good burger I custom built!
Talk to you later!

French Fry Friday..June 17th

Howdy!  Late post tonight!  I am excited to report, that I just got back from the gym.  I didn't do much, but I needed to get some fat burning in. I am still baffled that after all teh water drinking, I wake up with thirsty and with a dry mouth.  How can this be?  I am really stumped about that. I may have to take a moment to do some research.

Breakfast
Black Cofee (it's getting a tad easier to get down)
     1/2 grapefruit

Lunch
     Chicken
     Spinach

Afternoon Snack
     1/2 grapefruit
     A few french Fries
     A few sweet potat0 fries

Dinner
Chicken (had to make it light after my french fry eating)

Water Intake:  193 ounces

Workout
Treadmill 30 minutes.  Forgot the calories, but it was almost 300 I think.

Thursday...June 16th

Howdy Partners. Well after yesterdays extreme dieting and excessive water drinking.  I woke up thirsty?  Huh?  How could that be. Believe it or I down 32 ounces of water before even leaving the house.  My mouth and lips still dry...I need Chapstick!  Well today I have dinner plans with a friend at the new BJ's they opened in Century City.  So that was on the forefront of my mind all day. So I watched what I ate all day so I can still enjoy myself at BJs tonight.

Breakfast
     Apple
     9 Cheez It Crackers
    1 cup of Black Coffee
***I am not a black coffee drinker, this was extremely hard to get down.  But Black Coffee has very little calories in it, and if I stay away from teh sugar & cream.  I could save a lot of calories vs my normal 450 calorie coffee drink from Coffee Bean every morning.  So What I am trying to say is, I am going to make myself fall in love with black coffee!

Lunch
     Baked Chicken breast
     Shredded Lettuce
     1 teaspoon of salsa
     4 strawberries

So at about 2:30 my friend called and her asthma attacks started flaring up. So we cancelled our BJs outing.  So I left work and went to go get my eyebrows down.  Homegirl did a good job.  Anywho...I veered off the topic.

Dinner
     Spinach & Chicken
     Apple

Late Night Snack (while watching CSI)
     Vanilla Ice Cream

Water Intake for the Day: 161 ounces

Thats all folks!

So over all I did not eat much, probably why I was tired and had a headache.  I made it through the day with no coffee and only 1 glass of coke.

Workout:  30 minutes of Cardio.

Kickstart Monday...June 13th

I really felt good today.  Seeing that loss, thought it was small, gave me renewed hope.  Sometimes that is all I need is to see a little vision of hope.  It reminds me...A hope deferred makes the heart the sick.  It is so true.  When I lose hope is when things don't progress.  Its that point when I give up and give in is when I undo all the progress I made when I had hope, when I remained hopefully.  So I think its time that I renew my hope and hold fast to that Hope!

Okay I am done with my mini-sermonette.  So here we go.  I was doing pretty good today until I got to dinner.  Oops.

Product Review:  Braggs's Organic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing
I have heard really good things about Bragg Products, so there I was in Sprouts, again, and I decided to pick it up and try it.  My first reaction was that it was pricey, I think it was $6.99 at Sprouts.  Amazon has it cheaper, and I am sure it can be found cheaper elsewhere.   No preservatives, no added sodium, or sugar, and most importantly, a basic indgredient listing:   Ingredients: Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Bragg Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, purified water, organic honey, organic garlic, Bragg Liquid Aminos, organic onion, organic black pepper, natural xanthan gum.

This salad dressing is fantastic!  It really is.  I was concerned at first it would be vinegary, but it is not.  It does not have a strong taste, it is very subtle!  The dressing coats the lettuce very nicely, so you really don't need a lot of it.  You can probably use the 2 tablespoons on a nice big bowl of salad.

This is a definate must buy for all salad eaters!

Searching for Sale Saturday (June 11th)

Yup...searching for sales, that is how I spent most of my Saturday.  I am still on the hunt of furniture for my bedroom.  I was beginning to regret the fact that I gave away my old set!  I'm in my new place for about a month and had no where to put my clothes.  It was really driving me nuts.

Friday after work I search in Torrance.  Drove up and down Hawthorne Blvd.  Didn't find any bedroom furniture that I like.  But I found a writing desk & a filing cabinet that I liked so I got those on Friday. So Saturday off I went furniture hunting again.  And after about 3 or 4 place...I drove over to Rent A Center.  And Walla...I found a set for a very very good price!  $580 for Dresser with mirrow, chest, 2 night stands, and a headboard!  It will be delivered on Tuesday!  I am so excited!  That is a picture of the Bedroom Set to the left!

Then I had a coupon for Bath & Body Works...so I went there.  Stocked up on Wallflowers, room sprays, and handsoap for the bathroom.  I love that place and that stuff especially when things are on sale and when I have a $10 off coupon!

Then I went to the Avenue...long story short, they have some really nice summer dresses!  I got 2!

So While I am here, I may was well post my eatings for hte day.  I did not update my food journal, but its was probably a high calorie day.

Breakfast
     White Chocolate Latte
     Sausage & Egg McMuffin

Lunch
     Chicken Fingers
     French Fries
     Coke

Dinner
     Subway:  Spicy Italian Sub
    Dr. Pepper

Okay it's way past my bed time.  Off I go.  Chat with you later.

Wednesday June 8th Recap & Beef Jerky Product Review

Howdy I am updating my blogg and eating dinner at the same.  I sat here for a minute trying to think of something catchy for my Blog Title, and as you can see nothing creative came to me, so we are stuck with Wednesday June 8th Recap as my title.

Overall not a bad day.  I was feeling kind sluggish and tired today, but that may be because I did not fill myself with crap today.  Food wise, not a great day, but a vast improvement from my current norm.

     White Chocolate Latte

Snack
Didn't even think about eating I was so busy at work

Lunch
Cobb Salad w/ Blue Cheese Dressing

Beek Jerky (its not as bad as you think)
     1 can of coke

Today after work, I went to Sprouts Farmer's Market.  I really love that place.  Stocked up on my fresh Spinach, Organic Salad Dressing, Apples, Cantaloupe, Grapefruits, and Beef Jerky! So what's the story behind the Beef Jerky?  Well I read an article called "Junk Food That's Good For you"  I won't paste the whole article, but here is what it said about Beef Jerky:

Beef Jerky

Why you think it's bad: It's unhealthy meat that's loaded with preservatives.

Why it's not: Beef jerky is high in protein and doesn't raise your level of insulin—a hormone that signals your body to store fat. That makes it an ideal between-meals snack, especially when you're trying to lose weight. And while some beef-jerky brands are packed with high-sodium ingredients, such as MSG and sodium nitrate, chemical-free products are available. If you have high blood pressure, check the label for brands that are made from all-natural ingredients, which reduce the total sodium content.

Eat this: Gourmet Natural Beef Jerky (available at americangrassfedbeef.com). It has no preservatives and is made from lean, grass-fed beef. Research shows that, unlike grain-fed products, grass-fed beef contains the same healthy omega-3 fats found in fish.

So while I was at Sprouts I did find some organic natural beef jerkey and bought a pack and sampled it.

Product Recommendation:  Farmer's Market Organic Cherry & Apple Wood Smoked Beef Jerky
Click Here to read more Product Information!

So here we are reviewing beef Jerky!  Whoot Whoot!  Well the package is 3 ounces and it cost $5.99 at Sprouts.  To me, expensive in  price, but I can always shop around to see if I can find something cheaper.  I get in the car and opened the package, yea, I didn't wait to get home.  I grabbed a piece and in my big mouth it went!  {Enter long pause here to build the suspense}  It was the best tasting Jerky I have ever eaten in my life!  I feel like Slim Jims jipped us on how wonderful beef jerky could really taste!  This was a delightful snack!  And like hte article said, the nutritional information was really not that bad.  The only red flag was the sodium content, but I think this could be a nice little snack once in a while.

I do have one bad thing to say about the jerky:  It was a bit tough.  Which I know jerky is kinda supposed to be, but I remember thinking in the car, man this is tough.  You really had to chew it, which in actually in the long run may help me eat less?  Who knows!

Product Recommendation: Yogi Berry DeTox Tea

Here it is my first official write up on a product that I enjoy,

Yogi: Berry Detox Tea
Product Information website: Yogi Teas
Take a minute to click the link above to read what Yogi says about the tea.

I will start my review off by saying, I am by no means a regular tea drinker.  I actually consider myself a hater of hot tea.  I got motivated one day to try this tea, which I purchased From Lindberg Nutrition here in Southern California.

The first cup of tea I made, the tea tasted fine, it was something I could definately drink, there was no horrible taste.  My personal preference with this tea, was to squeeze some fresh lemon juice & sweeten with a little agave nectar, but even with out this the tea tastes fine.  The first cup of tea I made, I drank it at night, maybe an hour before going to bed.  When I woke up the following morning, I had to had straight to the restroom for a "RELEASE"!  You catch my drift!  I remember thinking wow, that worked fast!  The actual "release" was rather plentiful and came out with ease.  After I released, I just had an empty feeling internallly.  There was no bloating or constipated feeling.  I really felt like a great amount of waste was removed.  I drank another cup of tea that morning and went to work.  By the time, I got to work, I was heading for the restroom for another "Release".  Again, easy passage, no bloated or constipated feeling.  But after the second release, I felt lighter.   So it works, it tastes good, and you feel good after the waste is removed.

7 "Healthy" Foods that are making you fat

Sigh...every time I see these videos or even read articles about so called "healthy" foods that are making people fat, it kinda upsets me.  Why?  Because as a consumer we are lied to so much!  One thing I have learned, yet sometimes I forgot, is that food manufacturers and heck even the darn FDA is all about the mighty dollar.  They will say anything to the consumer if they think it will help them make more money!

As a consumer we have to read labels, cause as this article & video points out, alot of these things have been introduced to us as "healther" options and subsitutions which in fact they are just as bad as they thing we are replacing it with.   Man, it is very very important that we READ LABELS & DO OUR OWN RESEARCH about food!

Time to Face the Music

Howdy Partners,

I know I posted last week that I was getting back on track with dieting & excercise, but damn its been a rough road back to the start line.  Today after I got off of work I went and bought a scale.  Sigh.

As much as I dread getting on the scale I need to track my progress regardless of what direction the progress is moving.  I got home and got on the scale..and Oh my Word.  Not a pretty number starting back at me.  Wowzers.

I will weigh myself first thing tomorrow morning and update my "Weigh In" log.

On another note.  Pictures from the Arthritis Walk this past Saturday have been posted.  These are candid shots taken at the event, so I really had no idea they were taken.   All it takes is a few shots of yourself from an unflattering angle to light the fire under my tale!  Pictures have been added to the phot journal, but here is one of them.

OMG Becky...Look at her butt!

Recap of Wednesday June 1, 2011

Alrighty, as you can see I forgot to update things last night.  So here is a quick run down of yesterday, hopefully I remembered everything.

Breakfast
    Cup of Baked Apple Oatmeal
Cup of Yogi Berry DeTox Tea
Cup of veggies (brussel sprouts & broccoli)

Mid Morning Snack
     Apple

Lunch
Homemade Salad (spinach, lettuce, chicken, balsamic vinagriette)
1 steak taco (that was very nasty by the way, and I did not eat the shell just the middle)

Afternoon Snack
Small bag of Sour Cream & Onion Chips (smh)

Dinner
Big Buford Burger from Rallys (smh...again)

I was very very excited yesterday, I started to add things to my online food journal @ Fitday.com, and as I was on the website I noticed they had an app for the Iphone!  Imagine my excitement.  So I downloaded it on my phone and its cool, its very user friendly, and all the foods I have entered online I have access to on my phone.  I now have no excuse not to keep my food journal updated!  This goes down as a product recommendation!

Toodles!
