Vacation recap

I had such high expections on this vacation.  I came packed with gym clothes, tennis shoes, etc.  And did not make it to the gym at all!  The first few days in Vegas, my eating was on point.  And then things made a horrible u-turn.  I was eating at BJ's, at Breakfast buffets, Taco Bell, drinking egg nog, eating ice cream, pie, and all those lovely items!  Never the less, Fun was had! 

My dad bought a treadmill and it is now in the house.  I got on it for literally 2 minutes one day!  It kinda made me want a treadmill, but they are so big and so very expensive.  While I was in Vegas I saw an ad at Big 5 for roller skates.  It resurfaced my desire to want to roller skate again.  I spent a good portion of my evening looking at roller rinks in the area that I can take classes at.  I think roller skating may be my next feat!  I am excited to give it a shot! 

As you can plainly see I have had yet another false start on this dieting train.  I have yet again missed weigh in's, and have not been journallling!  Bad me!  Now that I am back home (Long Beach) I can return to the straight and narrow path!  I am putting myself on a liquids and veggie diet for a week.  I went shopping after work today, and I got some Brussel sprouts, zuchini and some yellow squash.  Can you believe the store was out of spinach?  What the hey day!  But I will spend my weekend making oodles of veggies so things will be prepared. 

Quantity wise, I did not eat alot today.  The 2 meals I did have were not good meals though! :0:

Breakfast:  White chocolate latte & Pepperjack cheese croissant
Lunch:  none
Dinner:  El Polo Loco chicken, side salad & BBQ black beans.

Thursday in Vegas! *incomplete post*

Hello Bloggers!

I finally made it to Vegas!  I arrived Tuesday night, after a long long delay due to the weather!

Wednesday my first day in Vegas was rather unevent.  I started my period and boy did I have back pain and cramps like you wouldn't believe.  It was a day of laying on the heating pad and taking pain killers, which really never killed the pain!

So Today Thursday...Started off okay.  Got out of bed around 7am.  It was not raining and the sun was out!  It was definately the beginnings of a great day!

Breakfast
     3 scrambled Eggs sprinkled w/ mozzarella cheese
     1/2 cup black beans
     1 Whole wheat Round

Going Back to Scratch...

Howdy...after looking at my weigh in update today.  It made me realize it was time to go back to scratch!  Time to start over...time to get back to the basics!

Breakfast
     Vanilla Atkins Protein Shake
     1 Banana
     Regular White Chocolate Latte (I need to completely remove this from my diet, such a waste of calories)

Mid Am Snack
     1/2 cup of Red Rice
     2 cup of my Ground Turkey/black beans/tomato mixture

Lunch

     1/2 Banana
     1tbsp of Flax Seed

And then I detoured on my attempt at getting back on track...

     Popeyes..chicken fingers, with french fries, & a pepsi!

I finally got to try to spin shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited!  I finally made it to spin class and got a bike.  My first class in almost 2 weeks.  Since I am so excited I will talk about my workout before my eats!  Spin class as always is hard, but I got to try to new spin shoes.  I can feel the difference in my legs using hte spin shoes.  it was a bit wierd when I pull up on the pedal to feel the pedal be attached to my foot.  And I surprised myself..I was able to clip in on my 3rd attempt!  Yay me!

Okay to the boring stuff...my eats for the day:

Breakfast
     Banana
     20 ounce bottle of coke
     **don't ask, I can't even explain this one. 

AM Snack
     Triscuits

Lunch 
   Went to Salad Bar @ Century City mall ate salad
     Romaine Lettuce, bleu cheese, turkey, mushrooms, black beans, olives w/ balsamic vinagriette
    Slice of Cheese pizza

Dinner
    Banana
    Atkins Protein Shake
Total Calories for hte day..my estimation probably close to 1,700.  The pizza slice was huge, it really was, so I am estimating like 500 calories for the pizza and another 500 for the salad with all the toppings.  Sounds realistic don't it?

Howdy....

Hey Blog Readers...if I have any out there! 
Well as you can see this blog has not been touched since hte beginning of Thanksgiving week.  OOPS!  I am starting things back up.  I may have been down for a moment but I am not out!  Too much progress and improvements have taken place to quit now!  So I hope you are still with me for the journey...cause I am in for the long haul! 

Last night I got some thoughts about where to take Destination Fitness & Fit for Purpose.  After doing some research, I noticed the Small Business Administration offers classes how various issues about starting a business.  There is a class this weekend (Dec 11th) About how to start a business in California.  I think I may have to attend.  All the business courses I took, I took in Nevada, so I am so out of touch on what is required to start a business here in California. 

I am excited to report, if I have not already reported.  I have invested in spin shoes!  They arrived Thanksgiving week, so I have not been to spin class in a couple of weeks, so I have not yet tried them on.  This is another step in preparing me for Spinning Nation 2011, and to take my Spin Certification exam next year. 

So much for me to do in the months ahead!  Let's get ready to get Fit!

The reason why today is called disappionting Tuesday is because, it was my normal spin class day.  I get to the gym and all the bikes are already taken!  I was sad! I have yet to try on my new spin shoes!  Well while I was at the gym I figured I may as well do something.  It is hard to do the treadmill when my heart & mind was set on spin class! :0(

Another Plain Jane Monday (Nov 22)

Howdy,   Just a quick drop in.  It is Thanksgiving week!  I love the holidays, this is my absolute favorite time of year.  It was very cold outside.  I am not a cold weather lover, but just feeling the chill in the air made the holidays feel that much nearer.

Tiring Thursday (Nov 18)

I could not muster up the strength to get out of bed last night to fetch the computer and update my blog.  So here it is.  I will just keep it short and sweet.

Forgot to log the nutrition info for hte Doritos, I think it was 260 calories.  So total calories was 1700+ for the day..OOPS!

     This teacher, her name was DeeDee.  It didn't like her at first, she started off all hyper and was telling us to get hyped up.  The class never got hyped...so she simmer her little tail down.  She started the class saying our goal was to burn 500 - 600 calories in the hour.  And I really felt like I did!

Getting over the Hump on Hump Day

The middle of the week is usually a bit rough.  Tired from Monday & Tuesday and I am dreading I still got Thursday and Friday to go!  Oh Wednesday have become like Monday's to me. I reculctantly got my tail out of bed this morning and went to the gym.  I got there 30 minutes later than I would normally go, and the "Man Squad" had already taken over all the weight equipment I like to use.  Men folk..so rude and so inconsiderate! 

Got a little creative this morning and created my own little breakfast scramble! I love eggs, they are very versatile!  The ingredients for this breakfast scramble, was eggs (duh), lentils, and canadian bacon.  I wish I had cheese & some salsa, I think that would have kicked the scramble up a few notches.  But it was still good.  I managed to get a nice balance of protein, fat, carbs & fiber in this meal.  I give it 2 thumbs up.

Breakfast
     4 eggs
     Canadian Bacon
     1/2 cup lentils

Lunch (OOPS not a good lunch)
     Whatever the combo #2 is at Wendys

Snack
     Blackberries

Dinner
     1/2 cup of lentils w/ flax seed
     2 wedges of Laughing cow cheese
Total Calories for the day:  ALOT!  I didn't have the nerve to fill in the Wendy's nutrional information, so I did not complete my entire journal
Fiber intake for the day:  20gs (could be more in the event a double cheeseburger has fiber.  I think it just might!)

Excercises
     Today was probably one of my more activity days.  It's been a while since I did this much.  As i sit here typing my leg muscles are already sore!

Terrible Gas Tuesday....

Today is day #2 of mission increase fiber intake!  And boy do I have some really bad smelling gas!  It is absolutely horrible!  I am making my own self nauseated by its odor.

Quinoa Trial #1 - Monday Nov 15

I read somewhere that Quinoa was a very healthy food.  So I went to Trader Joes and picked me up some.  Today at work I made me a small portion of it just to try.  It actually is not bad.  I added blueberries, cinnamon, & agave nectar to it to flavor it.  With out the "flavoring" it does not taste like anything.  Quinoa is very high in Fiber, in just the 1/4 cup serving I made there was 4g of fiber and 6g of protein.  Not bad.  Now the down side to the increased fiber intake:  Around 1:30pm at work, I had the worse gas imagineable!  And it was the kind of gas that needed to be released; keeping it in, just made it more uncomfortable and painful.  Good think I have a can of Glade Air Freshner in my desk at work!  I think I will give continue to give Quinoa a try.  Earlier this year I did try a high fiber diet and it did work wonders, so I will try increase my fiber intake on a daily basis, and track it on my food log & blog. 

So here is how the day went:

Second Breakfast
      1/4 cup Quinoa
      1 teaspon Flax Seed

      **Tidbit, Savory is in the title of the soup.  The soup was in no way, shape or form...savory!

     El Pollo Loco 4pc dinner w/ beans & salad!!  This is hilarious to me!
As you can clearly see, this was definately an day of overeating.  Did I really need all this food?  Absolutely NOT!

No excercising today.  I left work went to the store and got home and ate and washed my hair and attempted to do a wet set on my own. I was absolutely certain it would turn out a disaster, but I was plesantly surprised when I got up this morning.  It look decent once it dried.  I have little curlies.  I look like  a little kid!

I have conquered the cold mornings....I Think!!!

Wednesday morning...alarm goes off.  I lay in bed an extra 30 minutes.  Changed for the gym had my shoes on and everything.  I sat on the couch and said I really don't want to go to the gym.  Sat there for a few more minutes and "something" urged me to go for a walk.  So I grabbed a hoodie and off I went!  I had a wonderful 40 minute walk in my neighborhood this morning.  It was cold out there, but I do warm up quickly.  Maybe about after 10 minutes I was warm.

Tuesday (Nov 9) Recap

Hello...I don't what's happening with me, but I can't seem to stay awake long enough to update my blog at night!  Last night I fell asleep with the laptop on the bed in the midst of me instant messenging my sister.  When I woke up the last message I had from her is, Did you fall asleep?  LOL! 

Well Tuesday was a pretty decent day.  I did not each much in quantity, but I think the things that I did eat were high in calories.  Unfortunately nothing I ate I have calories counts for.

Breakfast
    cup of hot chocolate
    piece of Coffee Cake (made by Veronica in the office)

Lunch (@ the Jonathan Club, had a meeting)
    Turkey Sandwich (turkey, mustard, lettuce, cheese)
    Pasta Salad (really good stuff, went back for seconds)
    Green salad w/ Balsamic Vinaigrette

And honest to God, that was all I ate.  Even when I got home from prayer, I ate nothing!  I will admit I was tempted to go to Popeyes for the 99cent special but I stayed away.  I really really want to lose 20 pounds this month.  That was Tuesday, nothing to exciting or adventerous.

Mondays!!! The dreaded beginning of the work week.  That is enough to put me in a somber mood and I was all day today.  Not sure the root of this sadness, but I was a a bit sad for most of the day.  Not much of an appetite today so I took up grazing.

Weekend Recap

The weekend as always flew by.  It is never long enough.  I had a really good weekend!  Watched movies, ate out, it was just a time to get out and get my mind off of things.  Not the greatest eating weekend...but oh well!  It was well worth it.  I have 7 days until I get back on the scale. 

I went to see MegaMind..it was a cute movie.  Not overly funny, but still good.  How could you not love someone that calls themselves megamind!  Then I saw Colored Girls.  It was a heavy movie, but very well done.  I could have done w/o the methaphorical monologues the actresses had, but it was a very good movie. 

Just to keep myself accountable here is a quick run down of what I ate on Saturday & Sunday.

Saturday
     Baked Apple Oatmeal w/ 1 teaspoon of flax seed

Fantastic Fridays....

I am slowly getting myself out of my rut.  I am feeling much better.  My attitude and my spirit has made a turn for the better.  I had an excitement about me today.  This morning I jump started the day with a trip to Walmart to get my relaxer and then headed off to the gym.  Friday mornings is a slow day @ the gym.  I will have to remember that.

Workout
     30min Treadmill (track course) Walk/Jog Intervals
     Burned 363 calories, 1.81 miles completed.
     This walk/jog interval I jogged faster for a shorter period of time.  It was hard!
      I will have to stick with this for a few weeks to build up my stamina. 

Breakfast

    Sausage

Lunch
   2 Whole Wheat Rounds
   w/ 1 teaspoon of peanut butter & 1 teaspoon of flax seed

Dinner
     10 lemon pepper wings
     few fries

I am tired today.  Mainly cause I am stressed, and I have alot on my little pea brain!  Nevertheless, I will not lose heart.  So I had a a temporary set back on the scale this morning.  I am okay with it, because I know I had strayed off plan.  Today I resurrected by food journal and logged my food for the day.

Okay...another weight gain week.  But I expected that.  No excercise & crazy eating is a guaranteed way to gain weight!  Gain 3 pounds over these last 2 weeks.  But at least its only 3 pounds its a manageable number.

Friday Recap

I got in late Friday night so doing my blog was the furthest thing from my mind.

The morning started off bad.  I went to leave to go to work and my car would not come out of park.  I have had this problem with the car before, but now it seems like it has started doing it again.   So i ended up staying at home and working from home.   Since I was home, I was able to get my new possessions from my neighbor.  He is moving and has given me bar stools and a corner shelf!  So I took possession of those today.  I need to dust and clean them, but I love em!  Then I had plans for a dinner & movie with Gwen, who is leaving Cali to move to AZ.  So this was our farewall event!  The bad morning didn't last long, Friday was actually a very very good day.

Breakfast
     1/2 Omellette (Cheese, mushroom, spinach)
     2 pancakes w/ syrup & butter

Snack
     Chile Limon Chips
     Pepsi

Lunch
     the other 1/2 of the omelette
     1 slice of wheat toast

Snack
     3 Mozarella Sticks

Dinner
     3 Tacos
      chips & salsa

Not the greatest eating day, but I slowly have to cut of my bad eating.  I did not work out at all on Friday!  I should have taken advantage of being at home and at least walked in my neighborhood.  But I didn't.  I am happy and surprised to report, that I am sore from Thursday evenings spin class!  Ron did push us Thursday and I feel it!  I heart spinning!

I have my eye on 2 dresses that I would love to buy! 

 











To motivate myself through the holidays I am going to treat myself to 1 of these dresses if I lose 20 pounds during the month of November.  The hard part is picking which dress to get, I love htem both!

Wiping the Slate Clean....

Hello all real and imaginary blog readers!
Today October 27th I wipe the slate clean!  I got an email from a friend asking to help them out of a rut.  In my attempt to help them out of there rut, it made me do some self examination.  I was in a rut myself!  She helped me out of my rut!  I don't know if I did much for her, but I think in our own ways, we help each other!

So today I am back on my regimen.  I have been going "rogue" for the last 8 days.  My last workout workout Wednesday October 20th and I have been eating like it's 1999!  I don't know what that means, but if people can party like it's 1999, I can eat like it's 1999!  Today we are being to turn..and return to doing what I know I should be doing.  Today was not a perfect eating day, but an improvement from where I was yesterday and over the last 7 days.  So here we go:

Breakfast
    Scrambled eggs w/ 1/4 cup spinach
     Whole Wheat Rounds
     Pumpkin Latte

Snack
     Small bag of Cheetos (stress/comfort food)

Lunch
     Baked chicken
     Rice
     Red Cabbage salad
     Salad

Snack
    Another bag of Cheetos (still stress/comfort food)

Dinner
     4oz baked chicken
     1cup cooked Spinach
     1cup Zuchini

Evening Workout
     60 minutes of Spin Class
     Going to Spin Class after not working out for 8 days = REALLY BAD IDEA!
     I did enjoy this instructor though...Ron gets 2 thumbs up from me! Unfortunately he was subsititue teacher.  He said he normally teaches at the gym in Compton, so I will have to check out the class schedule over there!

Major accomplishment for the day:  NO SODA!!!

Just Checking In...

Sorry I have not posted anything since Thursday.  I am alive and well.  I have not done much excercising since my indoor rowing class.  I would recap my eating but I can't remember that far back. 

Thursday...I interviewed for a job at the Post office. That took up half my day.  I was there from 7:30 to about 12:30p.  I decided not to go through with the job and went home when I should have been taking a drug test.  Working for the Post office is no joke!  They were strict and demanded alot for $10 an hour w/ no benefits! 

Friday...I attended my first play.  I went to the Ahmanson Theater and saw Leap of Faith.  I enjoyed it, it was entertaining, comical, and kept my interest.  I was surprised I did not get bored sitting for 3 hours!

Saturday...I attended another play called I need thee.  It is horrible, boring and not done well at all!  Spent the evening in San Pedro.  San Pedro is a rather boring city, there was not much going on out there. 

Sunday...nothing exciting just church and went home.  Continued to struggle with my bad back pain and horrible cramps!  

And now it's Monday!  Back to work and I am trying to get back on my routine.  I will be sure to post tonight.  Tata!

First Try at Indoor Rowing...Completed!

Being on vacation surely has gotten me off of my blogging routine.  Here is a recap of Wednesday October 20th!

No Dinner:  I really was not hungry.  Eating did not even come to mind.

So Wednesday I ventured out to a new class I heard about on the internet.  It is called indoor rowing.  The class is in Long Beach and I got a coupon that my first class was free so I really had nothing to lose.  I got to the class Wednesday morning its in a warehouse.  I guess the owner of the gym owns this warehouse where he also stores his boats!  I was a little caught off gaurd by that, but hey whatever works for you.  There was about 15 rowers and a section with maybe 10 spin bikes, some free weights and some balance balls.  Nothing to extravagant, just the bare essentials.  My teachers name was Genevieve and before the class started she gave me the "how-to's of rowing. I made it throught he class.  I thought it was a bit boring, she had us rowing slowly.  In my opinion, I think it could have been more enjoyable if we were rowing faster!  Now that its the day after the rowing class..I see that it really is a work out.  I am extremely sore!

Frustrated!!!

This will be a quick post..I did not work out today.  I was storming really bad outside today so I stayed in.  There was really bad lightening and thunder.  I was really annoyed, irritated and frustrated today. So you know what that means....I ATE ALOT!   So today was not a good eating day, and with no excercise, it was a really really bad day.

Breakfast
    Scrambled egss with mushrooms & Spinach

Lunch(Jack in the Box)
    Grilled Pastrami sandwich
    French Fries
    Rootbeer
    **this was sucha  disappiontment.  It looks so good pictured, but it did not meet my standards, and I normally love pastrami.

     Spicy Chicken Sandwich
     French Fries
     Rootbeer

I don't even dare look up the calories for that Jack in the Box Sandwich or hte Spicy Chicken Sandwich, I just know its high.  I probably ate about 3,000 calories today!  Ridiculus.  I was going to go workout tonight, but I am going to try a new class in the morning.  Indoor rowing the class starts @ 6am so I guess today will be a rest day and I will start tomorrow morning off with a new routine.  I'll let you know how Indoor rowing turns out.

I need help with learning how to deal with people.  Why is it that church folks are the hardest people to deal with? Why are we so set in our ways?  Why are we so darn impatient, prideful and vengeful.  I don't understand!

Mundane Monday

Man, today went by fast.  I don't know where the time went.  I met a friend for lunch today, ate at California Pizza Kitchen.  So today was not a good eat day.  My CPK meal itself was over 1500 calories.  But oh well, it was good!

Breakfast

     Cup of Tortilla Soup

     Hot wings from KFC (horrible choice, but I had a craving!)

Tonight was just an easy workout.  Trying to workout after eating hot wings is not a good idea.

Well another weigh in day is here.  Down 6 pounds which brings me closer to my goal of getting under 350.  So I am 3 pounds away.  350 is definately in reach!  I'm gonna get there, I will, I will!

An Enjoyable Sunday

Started the morning off with a little cardio.  This was the first time being on the treadmill that I sweat so much I had sweat all over the treadmill console and on the ground!  It was a bit hard this morning but I wanted to push myself.

Sunday October 17 Recap
AM Workout
     30 min Treadmill - Aerobic 1 setting (this has inclines)
     3 min walk/2 min jog intervals 364.8 calories burned.
**Thinking:  On Friday I did 30 minute intervals also, on flat course and burned 334calories. I would have thought I would burn more than 30 extra calories with the inclines.  Hmmm.  Maybe the slower spend affected that.  Oh well!

Lunch - ate @ Red Lobster
     Snapper Fillet, Broccoli, 2 portions of wild rice, Sprite, and 2 biscuits

Saw the movie RED  and it was really good. I enjoyed it.  I recommend it...2 thumbs up!

Lazy Saturday...

Recap of Saturday Oct 16.

I was extremely exhausted Saturday morning I did not get out of bed until 11am.  My legs were sore from the leg presses, and the soles of my feet hurt from standing so long.  I did not work out, so I don't have much to report.  Ran around did my errands and grocery shopping and that was all I did on Saturday.

So here is the eats for the day:
     Breakfast (eaten @ like 12:30p)
          Foot Long Spicy Italian Sandwich from Subway
          Bag of Cool Ranch Doritos
          20 oz Dr. Pepper

     Snack/Beverage
          20 ounce bottle of Pepsi

     Dinner
          Atkins Vanilla Protein Shake

Feeling Like a Champ..Friday Recap

Today was a good day. A  long, tiring day, but a good day. 

Morning Workout:  Got to the gym @ 2:45am that is a new kinda early for me!
     30 Min Treadmill - track/flat course (3min walk/2min jog intervals) 334 calories burned
     Lat Pull Down - 80lbs 4 sets of 12
     Low Row - 60lbs 4 sets of 12
     Leg Press - 180lbs + bar 3 sets of 12
     **As I type this I am hearing eye of the tiger in the air.  Do you hear it too?  LOL!  I was feeling kinda wonderful and powerful after this workout. 

After Workout Eats
     1 cup cottage cheese
     Lots of water

Breakfast about 9am
    Pumpkin Spice Latte
    Croissant

Lunch
     Ribs :0)  It's protein, don't hate!
    Greens

Dinner:  I really didn't have a dinner.  I went to Crenshaw High School football game and worked the concession stand..  I ate 1 hot link, 1 can of pepsi and lots of water.
No calorie total for the day.  But all in all, I don't think its a bad eating day do you?  My feet are killing me from standing so long.  I need more supportive tennis shoes.

Thursday Recap

Hola!  I did not get a chance to post on Thursday so here is the recap.  I woke up on Thursday feeling like a new person!  I was not congesteg, I had energy and my appetite came back (that was not agood thing)! 

I started the morning off with a quick non-strenous excercise to jolt my system back into reality!

Finally feeling a bit better....

Well today is the first day I started to feel some relief.  Someone suggested I tried claritin and I did.  I bought some and it worked wonders!  I am finally able to breathe!

Still fighting a bug....

Yeah.  An early post tonight cause I think I will be hitting the sack soon.  I am still still fighting whatever bug it is I picked up.  I was doing better today until about 6pm.  It started to cool down and I got congested all over again.  So I started running the hot water in the shower.  I sat in the enclosed bathroom with the steam to help me breathe.  It worked wonders while I was in there, but now that I have left, I am all stuffy again! 
I think I will have to invest in a humidifier or a vaporizer.  I need to research both and see which I really need.  I am having a hard time breathing with this congestion. 

Well I did not make it to the gym today again!  But here is my eats for hte day. 

Breakfast

Everyother meal:  My Homeade Veggie soup.

I made another pot of veggie soup today.  I like experimenting everytime I make a new batch of soup.  So here is what I put in this batch of soup.

2 cans of diced tomatos
1 Can of tomato sauce
3 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 head of cabbage (diced)
1 bunch of celery
2 bunches of green onions
3 handfulls of bean sprouts
3 Green Peppers
2 bunches of Cilantro
Water
Lemon Juice to taste
Dill
Lemon Pepper Seasoning
Black Pepper
Chile powder

The thing I love with this soup is that every time I can flavor it differently and add any kind of veggies I find.  Most times, I include broccoli, spinach, carrots, corn, cauliflower...pretty much whatever you are feeling like at the moment.  Sometimes instead of making it a tomato based soup, I make with with Liption Onion soup base.  The possibilities are basically endless with homemade soup.  The soup is helping my system detox and its giving me a good cleansing.  I love having the feeling that my intenstines are empty.  It cleans you out so well that you really feel empty on the inside!  Oh well that is all I have for tonight.

Weekend Recap...

Sorry folks, I didn't have the time to write about my weekend eats.  It as okay.  Not great just okay.  I had a good weekend.  Caught up on my NCIS, CSI, and event watched new episodes of The Event.  The eventt is the most confusing show....but I think I am hooked!

The life of a food grazer....

Here is a recap fo Thursdays Food eatings.  I grazed all day.  The only real meal I had was breakfast.  So I am just going to list out all my eats for the day.

Breakfast

     Almonds (a total of 5 servings, eaten throughout the day)

All in all, not a good food day!  No workout either.

Food Combining

Last night I made a small batch of vegetable soup.  I ate some of it last night.  This morning my stomach is just in a state of turmoil!  It's making noises, I have really bad gas, and got the runs and everything! 

I know my diet has been low on veggies, so it may be taking a while for my system to adjust.  My little mind of logical and analysis kicked in and I got to searching on the internet.   So I found this article about food combining.  Some foods eaten together causes us to have an upset stomach, or causes food to digest slower than needed.

Another rainy & wet day...

The rain is still coming down in California.  I wish it would stop.  I miss being outside and taking walks.  But I must keep on moving so I have to make my way to the gym.   It has been cold since it has been raining.  And I really have little to no "winter" clothes.  So this morning I try to squeeze (literally) into a purple long sleeved blouse I have.  It was not a pretty picture.  I got to work sat down and looked down, and much to my surprise..I was a hot mess!  A serious hot mess!  See for yourself!

Alrighty...last week was a bad eating week and an even worse workout week.  So this week it is time to start the engine again and get back to the basics! I felt asleep last night before updating my daily journal.  So here is what happened on Tuesday October 5th.

Future Fitness Challenge...

Okay I know I should not even be thinking about doing another Fitness Challenge since I have yet to complete my first challenge of walking from my apartment to Ocean Blvd.  But there is a Spinning Charity Event in February 2011.  Its 2 hours of spinning to benefit Ride 2 Recovery.  I definately want to do it!

I heart spinning and It would be something for me to strive towards.  I still struggle spinning for an hour!  So this will be my first challenge to complete in 2011.

The ending to the most Pathetic dieting week ever!!!!

Well the end of the week is here.  And I have officially been lazy all week and for most of this 2 week period!

Eats for the day:
     Nachos (homemade, keep it simple just cheese & chili)
     Hawaiin Punch
     1 chicken hot dog
     And as I type up this blog I am snacking on Salsa Verde Doritos & drinking a pepsi! 

Well tomorrow is a scheduled weigh in day and I will go weigh in.  I am not expecting much from the scales, but I am still going to get on it.  I believe in miracles!!! :0)  LOL!  I could somehow miraculously lost 2 pounds, ya never know!

Saturday Recap....

Just a very quick post to keep myself accountable and to remind myself that I have a goal that I must continue to work towards.

My eats on Saturday were a bit strange!  Quanity wise, I did not eat much.  The stuff I ate had little to no nutritional value.

Saturday was kinda like a semi-depression day.  Why do you ask?  Well earlier this week I got paid.  And on the same day as my direct deposit I had some "unrecognized transactions" in my checking account.  So called Citibank to inform them.  So here it is Saturday October 2nd, and I went to the bank to get a money order to pay my rent.  And now I have $22 to my name until the 15th.  I have an SUV that is needs gas, bills that need to be paid.  I'd like to have food in the house.  But how does one do all that with $22?  Sigh.  It's one of my life's challenges.  I never seem to have enough money to go around.

The Lesson of Trusting in God has been an ongoing test.  One I have yet to pass.  It's a struggle for me..but i guess in every situation and every trial there is an opportunity for me to choose to trust or worry.  Trust or Worry, trust or worry.  For some odd reason I always go to worry!  How or when will my mind click over to just automatically trusting?

WOW...Where did the day go?

Today flew by!  I can't believe it already after 10pm.  Had a crazy day at work.  The eats today was decent...still didn't make it to the gym!  Man O Man.

Hot at as Hell!

I want to start this post off by saying man...it as hot as hell!

Well the day started off good.  Quanity wise my eating was not bad.  But as I plugged everything into my journal and saw the nutritional value on things...it was not a good eat day.   Due to my laziness I did not go grocery shopping, I have veered off unto the wide road of destruction with my food choices!  Not to worry my friends, Payday is almost here, and I will be stocking up on all my healthy must-haves for a successful journey!

Total Calories for the day...Alot!  Without the Vanilla Shake I am already at 1780 calories!  Those Hot  Dogs were a killer they were 485 calories a piece!  I had no idea a hot dog was so high in calories!
    
I know I should go workout but its so hot!  Have I mentioned the 24-hour Fitness in Lakewood has no A/C?  Excercising increases your body temperature so I don't think working out right now is a good idea!  It is after 10:00pm and its still 86 degrees outside! Wowzers!

A day with no appetite...

I am sitting here recapping the day and low and behold, The only things I have put in my mouth today, is a cup of coffee, a slurpee, a whole lot of water and some baked pita chips.  I really have not felt hungry at all today.  I have had no desire to eat. 

It's a little after 8pm and I am debating if I should go to the gym.  It's still kinda hot outside & the gym in lakewood has no A/C just fans.  Not sure if I want to be there right now.  So the odds of me going are next to none, but if I do change my mind, I will updated my posting. 

This is probably the most boring journal day ever!  But that is really all I got.  C-YA!

Saturday In Review

Greetings!  Another late night post.  I just got back from the gym not to long ago.  I decided to go late today to avoid the weekend crowd. It was wonderful.  I must admit is was nice being in an empty gym.  All the cardio equipment empty and the free weight area empty.  I think I may have to make this a weekly outing!

I will have to try to make some Bok Choy.  I am always looking for new veggies to try, and I have never tried Bok Choy. I love eating goat, I grew up eating goat.  I may have to throw that into my protein mix every now and again!

Help Me....I can't stop eating!

Man I feel asleep before I got to post my daily journal.  PMS days are here!  I started to feel the cramps and my appetite was just out of control today. 

Pre-Breakfast
     Muscle Milk Protein Shake

Breakfast (eaten @ work)
     Whole Wheat Rounds w/ 1 slice of Cheddar Cheese

Snack
      Olive Hummus w/ Pita Chips

Lunch
     1/2 Turkey Sandwich (turkey, sprouts, avocado, lettuce, tomato mustard) on wheat bread
     1/2 of a pickle
     Small side of Chinese Chicken salad w/ sesame dressing

So here is where the eat feast began.....there is no point grouping the items into meals.  I ate all these things after lunch and before going to bed!
Random Eats:
     1 cup of Watermelon
     1 cup of Cantaloupe
     1/2 cup of Pineapple
     1/2 of a pickle
     slice of cheese
     5 chicken strips
     French Fries
     Pepsi

Needless to say, I didn't dare put all this stuff on my food journal!  But as you can see definately a high calorie day!  And no excercising whatsoever!

Started the morning off waking up late.  So I did not get a morning workout in and to top it off started off with a very bad breakfast choice.

Small victory of the day:
As I was leaving work, I was pretty durn hungry and wanted something to eat.  I thought about things I would pass on the way home and made a decision of what I would eat before just randomly picking some fast food restaurant.  I selected Jack in the Box, I was first going to get the Chicken Fajita Pita which has 326 calories, but after further investigation, I saw I could get 4 grilled chicken strips and it only had 250 calories!  SCORE!  It Satisfied my appetite and kept my calories under control!  Wooo Hooo!

7 Healthy Snacks for Diet Success

I am always on the prowl for good snacks to eat between my meals.  I'm sipping this protein shake as my snack right now, and boy it just ain't cutting it!

I found this article on Fitness Magazine with some snack suggestions.  Honestly the only thing I see myself trying out of it is the apples with cheese and the mandarin oranges.  I am not a lover of peanut butter, but I am thinking that maybe I need to start eating it, to see if I can acquire a taste for it.

It's Just another Maniac Monday!

That song was stuck in my head.  It really wasn't a maniac Monday.
Well today after my shock at the scale and I hate to refer to my confidant, Ling Ling.  We've put our great and wonderful minds together the goal for the weeks ahead is more intense cardio and getting back to the found journal to keep track of calories!

     1/4 cup skim Milk

Weigh in Day Results...

Okay I weighed in today and the scale was umm...surprisingly off in my opinion.  It showed I gained 10pounds.  Not sure how that could be.   But Instead of trying to rationalize and figure things out.  I will just record my weight as it was.  They did move the scale at the gym, so I think that would have affected the reading, but I don't know if it would have affected it to show a 10lb weight gain.  Overall I have still lost weight, so unward I go, Full speed ahead!

Friday & Saturday Recap

Well so far the weekend is not a good!  But I just thought I would drop in and give a quick account of my "badness"

Sigh...and to top it all off no excercising happened so far.  I really hope to get in the gym today after church and getting my hair did!  LOL! 
Tomorrow is weigh-in monday so I have much to be concerned about.  Time to pray for a miracle!

Thursday Recap

AM Workout
     Arm Curls 2 sets of 50, 12lb weights
     Side Extensions 3 sets of 15 (I am really seeing how this are helping my 1-pk)
     Incline Chest Press - 30lbs (my upper body is horribly weak!)  Each set I did got harder and harder...so this is what happened:  I did one set of 12, the next set I could only do 10, and my last set was only 8! 
     15min Treadmill the Gluteal Course, i liked it!  I did a little 2 minute jog in there.  163.4 calories burned.
Wow!!...2 days of getting up early and hitting the gym!  I'm on a roll, butter me up!

After workout eats
     Muscle Milk Protein Shake

Breakfast (3 hours later)
     Vanilla Bean Latte
     Slice of Pumpkin Bread
     Raspberry Yogurt

After the late night munchies I said to myself, "You have eaten may too much junk today, you must go to the gym again.  So I did, with much hestitation, but I went. 

PM Workout
     I tried a different cardio machine, its the cybex Arc Trainer.  I need to do some research on the benefits of the machine, but anywho, it was hard as heck!
     25 minutes on the manual setting.  Calories burned 342.

Hump Day in Review

AM Workout

     A really big salad w/ italian.  I was miserably full after eating it.

     Baked Chicken, but ate more than I should have.  I actually lost count of how many pieces I ate.

PM Workout
     Get ready for another amusing story.  So I get off of work and I am driving to Ken Hahn park to walk.  I get there, check the time, it's 5:03. I started walking and it was awfully windy and very cold.  5:10pm I am walking back to the car!
     7 minute Walk Ken Han Park  and yes I am listing it as excercise.  You gotta problem with it?  Ha Ha!

Today was an extremely extremely busy day at work.  I got so busy I didn't get to eat any of my snacks!  And Dinner I ate in the car on the way home.  I guess I should be grateful for the busy day, cause it did keep me from eating stuff I shouldn't have eaten,which was usually likely when I am stressed.  So all in all.  A good day!  Yeah me!  :0)

Good Start ... Bad, Bad ending!

The weather is changing up in the morning.  It is cold...well, cool in the mornings.  So I bought some of my old school favorite coffee!  I love those General Foods International Flavored coffees.  They are inexpensive, low in calories and a healther alternative to my occasional Coffee Bean splurge.  I tried a new flavor today, vanilla bean latte!  It was absolutely wonderful! 

AM Workout
     Century City Neighborhood Walk.  I tried a different route to the office today, its a bit more miles so that's good!  Took about 35 minutes...about 1.63 miles

**Moment of Truth...after not working out for 4 days getting back to doing some Physical excercise feels really good!  It was a struggle when I started the walk, but it got better!  Afterwards, I felt great!

The eats started off really good until I got off at work.  Until my dinner splurge I was under 1,000 calories for the day.  But I am sure I went over 2,000 after the crap I ate for dinner.

Ugh...a day of lots of internal struggles.

After coming off of my weekend eating binge, I guess todays eats was okay.  A big improvement from the last 3 days.  I did not keep a good calorie count today, So I am not sure where I am calorie wise but here is what I ate today.

Breakfast

    Salad (homemade)

     Hot link w/ mustard & relish
     Hot dog bun

Workouts
     I made it into the gym, but that is about all that got done.  At 8:30ish the durn gym was still packed.  There was not an empty treadmill or elliptical.  So I grabbed my stuff and left.  To make matters worse, I got back to my car and I am leaving the parking garage for the gym...and for the whole 15 minutes I was in there it cost me $8 to park my car!  That was the most expensive 15 minutes of my life!  Sigh.

I need to pray and get some things off my chest, I am heavy right now.  I am hurt, I am hearing the little child in me kicking and screaming saying "I don't wanna"  I hear the sound of fear in my voice.  I am feeling myself trembling because of my worry and my fear.  All I could do on hte car ride home was cry.  I know my tears don't move God, but I literally felt numb today.  All that could come out of me was tears..I can't formulate words to express the pain...but there is pain to my core. 

Weekend in Review...

Greetings!  I have not posted anything all weekend so you can just imagine how things went!  So let me do a quick recap for ya!  Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Bad, Bad, Bad!!

I did not workout at all for these 3 days.  My eating ranged from roast beef sandwiches, hot links, lemon pepper wings, double cheeseburger, cheetos, BBQ chips, pepsi, coke and the list goes on!  Sigh! I have 7 days to undo what I did in 3 days.  Monday Sept 20th is weigh in day.  I expect losses everytime I get on that scale!  Time to put my game face back on!  Let's do the durn thang!

Shin Splints: Oh the Pain

Every sinced I walked yesterday I have had really bad shin plint pain.  Normally shin plints don't concern me cause they go away after a day or two, but I am wondering why all of a sudden I have shin splints.  It has been a good 7 weeks or so since I started excercising so why am I getting shin splints now. 

Some causes of Shin Splints:
  • Overuse
  • Running on uneven surfaces or hard surfaces
  • Shoes with poor shock absorption
  • weak leg muscles
  • Tight Muscles
  • Flat Feet
So I read and research and based on my finds I have no idea what could have cause the shin splint flare up.  But know that it is rather painful.  Gonna take me some advil, my research suggested that, as well as icing my legs.
