I am counting this day...A VICTORY!

Well gang, Today for me, was a day from the pits!  I will give you the cliff notes version...I had a 12 hour work day.  Highly stressed!  I can't even explain!  But none the less, I told myself we are sticking to detox mode.  Again, not a perfect day, I had a mid-afternoon slip up.  My co-worker and her kind and generous self offered to buy my coffee & a cookie!  So you know I could not resist!  That was the slip up for the day, and even after 12 hour day at work...I made to to spin class!  I got to spin class late, but I made it!  This was my first spin class since, I don't know when.  I am so out of practice!  Oh my!

So a quick recap of today's eats just to keep me accountable:

Pre-Breakfast (eaten before leaving the house)
 Detox Beetroot Juice
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 apple
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 1 small beet
  • 3 leaves of Kale
  • 1/2 of a fennel bulb
Ran all through the juicer for a nice glass of yummy-ness and liver & kidney detoxing!

There was no-mid morning snack

Lunch:  my prepacked veggie tray.  Cucumbers, celery, carrots, black beans, salsa & some hummus

Mid Afternoon Snack:  White Chocolate Latte & a chocolate chip cookie from Coffee Bean

Dinner: the other 1/2 of my chia seed pudding

Workout:  55 minutes of Spinning

Informatioin Overload....

I apologize in advance if this turns out to be a long post.  I feel like I have so much to report.

Okay Item #1
I got on the scale today!  I was yet again shocked!  286.4!  Woohoo!  I promise one day I will learn to rotate this before posting.  I thought I did right, but obviously I didn't!  Please forgive me!

Okay Item #2
Holiday Juice Challenge - Day 7 (Dec 4th)
Another juice recipe borrowed from the wonderful folks at www.earthlyjuicecart.com!  And this my friends, has completely surprised me...I love it! It is called Green Lemonade.  It is another juice in the Anti-Inflammatory category!

Here are the ingredients:
  • 3 leaves of romaine lettuce
  • 1 apple
  • 2 inches of ginger (I peeled my ginger)
  • 1 lemon
This was my first time ever juicing lettuce and I must say I am very very impressed and pleased.  This is a very tasty juice.  I am also beginning to like the taste of ginger.  This is officially one of my favorite juices now!

Item #3
Got really active today.  Did some treadmill time, did weight training, and did 30 minutes of spin class!  Yeah me!

So overall...a great day!  I am pleased and tired!  See you next time!

A Thumbs Up & Ave Maria

Hey Hey!  What's going on!  This has been a week of constant ups and downs.  Sadly, it has been more downs that ups, but what can a girl do, but to roll with the punches.  So I'm rolling along!

Monday for Veteran's day I visited Avenue for a sale they were having.  I had my eye on a pair of tall riding boots.  I have had a long person score to settle with tall boots, since I thick chunky calves would never fit in them!  Much to my surprise I was able to get my calves into the boots!  I attempted to take a picture.  I never realized how hard it is to take a picture of my own feet until today, but here it is. Zipped all the way to the top!

Tuesday...First day back to work from my vacation and man, It was the day for H E L L.  I won't discuss that here!  I am so over it!

But Thursday...I went to spin class instead of doing my Couch to 5K training.  The instructors name is U.B.  Don't know what it stands for but I like that he uses the projector in the room and he plays a visual of what we riding. Yesterday we rode the alps! He is a good instructor, I do like him, he gets really into class.  He was working the room last night, giving every compliments and I got a thumbs up!  LOL!  I don't know how long its been since I have gotten a thumbs up in spin class!  But I thought it was rather hilarious!  To top off this spin class...our last song of the class, was Ave Maria!   Yes Ave Maria!  I was so shocked!  Who in the world would pick that song to cycle too!  Never a dull moment!

Well that is all I have for you today.  I will be in the very near future!

Spinning Nation 2012 ... completed!

It's been a dream of mine for about a year...lol! To participate in Spinning Nation! It's a national fundraising event that raises money for wounded vets. The money is used to open rehab facilities and purchase equipment for vets!

This year my schedule allowed for me
to participate and I did! I want to say it was the most challenging thing I have done to date! 2 - 50 minute sessions of spin class! ohhhh weee! It may have been for charity but it was no free or easy ride!

I am glad to say I made it through! after the first session I questioned if I could make it another session but I pushed through. I actually found the
second session easier than the
first!

There was not many photo ops, but here is a post spinning shot.

How ya Doing Pumpkins? :0)

Hey gang.  It has been a long time since I posted.  Some times I feel like there is not enough hours in the day.  Since I decided to title this post How Ya Doing Pumpkins, I have 2 pumpkin related stories to share!

The first Pumpkin related story, goes a little something like this.   YOGURTLAND!!!!!  Has officially introduced its Pumpkin yogurt!  Oh how I love Pumpkin!  I was in heaven.  I tried it yesterday for the first time, and me o my!  It's the shiznit to say the least.

The second pumpkin story, goes a little something like this.  Decided to try to a different spin class last night. The instructor's name was Anthony.  And I am so sorry, but something about seeing men in tight biker short is so unattractive.  It took every bit of me not to start laughing.  I will say that Anthony is a good teacher, he is a bit obnoxious, and annoying, but overall a great, challenging class!  So last night, maybe 30 minutes into class, he says, "How Ya Doing Pumpkins!"  Again...the desire to immediately laugh was there.  The class was not crowded there was only 7 of us..2 women and 5 men.  So to hear him address everyone as Pumpkins, rather amusing...to me anyways!

I am happy to report that my PMS overeating binge has appeared to stop.  I was actually able to eat normal amounts of food yesterday.  I was not craving everything in the world!  So that was a plus and a much needed change.  I can eat myself into a 10-pound weight weight gain when its PMS time.

Well that is it for now, nothing to exciting or new going on.  So I will just leave it like that for now.  Busy weekend ahead!  tata!

WOW...What A Wednesday!

I had a great hump day! Why? Well I got to go to rowing class! It was my first class back since March 2012! I miss it so! I got to go to my Wednesday afternoon spin class...how I missed that too. But it was a sub teaching and she was rathering...BORING!

So yesterday...not the best eating day. I woke up late so I had to run out of the house without making my eggs! So Breafast turned out to be: White chocolate latte and a Cheese crumble Danish.

We had a lunch meeting at work (OOPS) So lunch turned out to be 2 slices of pizza, a side salad, and some Alfredo pasta. That Alfredo Pasta was delightful!

Dinner...left over pizza from lunch.

As you can see, I definately carbed up! LOL! It was probably the best thing for me that I had 2 workouts in!

Workouts

  • 45 minutes of Spinning
  • 1 hour of Rowing

Well in a few weeks I will be embarking on a 12-week weight loss challenge with my wonderful BGR girls.  The challenge starts August 21 and requires weekly weigh-ins and weekly picture taking.  I am not happy about the picture taking.  But this is probably just the thing I need to get me motivated...Nothing like a good competition!  For the competition I have to keep a food log on MyFitnesspal.com.  Logging things online used to appeal to me, but I am so over it.  I hope I can maintain it, if I don't they will remove me from the group!  I look forward to seeing how my body will transform in the 12 weeks, so look forward to the posts and possibly the pictures as the challenge begins!

Talk to you Later!

Weekend In Review...

Hiddy Ho There!
Weekends come and weekends go.  Here I am on Monday wishing it was still the weekend. Reflecting back on the last few days, this weekend was absolutely WONDERFUL!  I really did enjoy myself!

I started off my Friday with an early morning Spinning Class!  It has been a good while since I made it to spin class.  My butt needs to be retrained to handle the bicycle seat...again!  But overall a great workout, as always.  I realized then, that I missed spinning!  Gotta do better about making it to class!

Saturday...Bike Ride!  This time It was a bit different of bike ride.  We started at Dockweiler beach and then instead of getting on the bike path we rode on some of the streets!  Lo & Behold, I found streets that took me to my house!  I was so excited!  Here is the path:  http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/t7R42M9Ot6Q  Distance wise, it was a shorter route than I would normally ride, but I was able to do it very quickly since I didn't have to worry about the congested bike path!  And I only took one break!

After the bike ride, my next feat was a stroll.  Just did 2 miles, but walked on the sand!  Oh my word, it was difficult! But I got it done! http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/tnNo48jZ9Bo

Non-exercise related stuff.  Hung out with some friends...watched some movies.  Enjoyed the sun, did some shopping.  Laughed, ate, and was merry!

Sunday, I chickened out of Speed Training...again!  That was 2 Sundays in a row I did not do it!  Oops!  Well that is all I will bore with for now, cause my boss just got to work and I guess I should pretend like I am working!  Talk to you later!

Struggling To Get Over The Hump

For some odd reason I am up at Midnight!  This is not usual for me.  Here is a recap of - Hump Day!  It started off rather rocky!  I over slept this morning and got to work late!  I think that Precor machine got the best of me.  I was just knocked out completely.  Not much to report so I will attempt to keep this short and to the point:

Breakfast:   Salad & Coffee
Mid Am Snack:  Cake (Yes....cake~)
Lunch :  Chicken with Broccoli Pasta; can of coke
Mid Afternoon Snack:  Apple & Celery Sticks
Dinner: Rice, Chicken, Pinto Beans
Late Night Snack:  Homemade Berry Smoothie W/ Flax Seed

Chicken & Broccoli Pasta (w/ salsa)
 Workout:
45 minutes of Indoor Cycling
Frankie is back from her 2 week hiatus!  I really enjoy her as a teacher! Again..class was hard..it sucks how difficult it is to get back in the swing of things after not doing anything for a week.  When I got on the bike  and we started our warm up...I noticed that I was sore in my legs!  I guess those 8 minutes on the Precor did something!

Hey Hey Hey

Its Monday night, and I have been missing in action for a bit!  I ended up not working out as much as I hoped too this past week!  Thursday & Friday I got extremely lazy!  Saturday was the LA's Best Cycling Fundraising event!  I had an awesome time!  I was very impressed with how well organized the event was!  They sent out event pictures today, and I was actually published in some pictures!  I was shocked!
Me @ Cycle for LA's Best

Team Afterschool Spinners
Believe it or not..the event was not as easy as I was expecting. We had 2 instuctors Chelsea & Nick. Nick was hard core! He did not take it easy on us, and neither did Chelsea for that matter! It was fun and a great workout! The Goodie bags were good! Overall a great event...definitely going to look for it next year!
To shock you...I actually went out later on Saturday and worked out! I did weight training. I have not done any weight training in a while. It was a bit difficult but here was the weight lifting routine.
Leg Press - 4 sets of 15; 190lbs
Back & Side Extensions 3 sets of 12
Latt Pull Downs - 3 sets of 15; 75lbs
Hip Adduction 2 sets of 50; 90lbs
Hip Abduction 4 sets of 25 90lbs

Now question of the day....Why is the abduction so much harder than the adduction? I was dying on those Abductions! I am sore as can be. So I know these beloved muscles of mine got a work out. I need to be more faithful to strength training. It really is one of my favorite things to do!

Riding Over Hump Day!

I am gonna start this post off about talking about my Spin Class!  Frankie is out for 2 weeks so we had a sub.  His name was Carlos.  Carlos Carlos Carlos.  The class started and I noticed Carlos was not suiting up to get on a bike.  So I was like okay, Carlos is "one of those teachers"  I have had always had a personal issue with spin teachers that don't ride while teaching.  As of today...I no longer have an issue.  Carlos has broken the mold!

I felt like I was in a personal one-on-one spin class.  The Wednesday 3:30p class is rarerly full.  Today there was only 6 or 7 of us.  So while Carlos was walking the room, he spent time with each of us give us pointers and pushing us to the limits!  Carlos did somethings today that no other spin instructor has ever done to me before:
  1. He turned the tension up on my bike!
  2. He kept telling me add more tension!
  3. He said you can do this, just work with me!
So after todays Class with Carlos, I realize I have not been working to my full potentional in spin class!  For our 45 minutes of class, we did internval training, endurance training and one other thing, I can't remember.  Carlos also explained the purpose and goals of each training type.  He told us he is all about heart rate, and encourage use to get a heart rate monitor.  This is something i have been wanting to do, I guess I shall look into it.  Carlos did an excellent job today..I am sitting here, watching Criminal Minds, and I promise you this is the first time my legs are sore from spin class!

I pledge from this day forth, to put forth more of an effort in spin class!

Scrambled eggs & tomato.  A breakfast favorite
Breakfast:   I returned to an old favorite:  scrambled eggs & tomatoes!  White Chocolate Latte

Mid AM Snack:  Grapefruit

Lunch:  Salad

Dinner:  Baked Cod & Mixed Vegetables

After Dinner snack:  Cranberry juice & an apple

Weekend in Review...

Weekends come and go so fast.  I hate that the weekends must end.

Me..After Spin class!
Well this weekend was good.  I got to Spin class on Friday and did another RYBO stage 4 workout on Friday. Saturdays Spin Class was really good, very challenging but I enjoyed it.  She had us on the bikes for the whole hour!  Most of the other spin teachers just do 45 or 50 mins.  Overall I am loving the spin classes better at Bodies in Motion over 24 Hour Fitness.  I really enjoy spinning...I gotta try to see if I can still ride a bike.  I would love to be on the beach riding a bike during the summer!

I had an sweet indulgence this weekend!  Strawberry Cheesecake!  It was delicious and it hit the spot!  This was courtesy of Marie Callendar's!  The cheesecake made up for the bad food.  I was not impressed with the food that night!

Cheesecake w/ strawberries
I made it out this weekend to see this Gospel Play called Midnight Cry!  It was really good!  Probably the best Gospel Play I have seen to date.   http://wilshireebelltheatre.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/midnight-cry-4-28-121.jpg  They are touring the country so if it comes to your town, you should check it out. It is definitely worth it!

Well this week I did more physical activity than I have in a long long time!  I feel it in my body.  I am not sore, but I am just tired!  But I know it is just the beginning stages of getting myself back into better shape.  Well that is all for tonight.

Recouping Thursday...

Today was an okay day.  I slept so wonderfully last night!  I was slept so well, I went to bed at about 9:30pm on Wednesday and got up at 5:10am Thursday morning.  I slept soundly throughout the night.  Didn't even hear my alarm which is set to go off at 4am go off!  I felt rested, but rushed.  So my day started a bit rushed.

I also woke up with a hunger like you wouldn't believe.  So breakfast was a bit monsterous for me today, and so was lunch for that matter!  Dinner was light..thankfully!

Today was the first training session for the Cycle for LA's Best fundraising event.   The training session was held at the David Barton Gym in Santa Monica.  I was so confused, it was a bit hard to get to for my first time.  Not too many signs and I parked in the wrong place, so part of it was my own error.  But this gym looks newer and nicer than the gym in Century City!  I made my way to the Spin Room and well the bikes...not so great.  They are old, rusted and they had a mixture of Schwinn bikes with the Spinner NXT bikes.  The first bike I got one creaked (is that a word) when I would stand on it.  So I switched to another bike. I loved the set up of this spin room, I had never been in a spin class where the bikes were on tiered levels.  That was kinda cool to experience.  The room though was hot.  I don't do well with heat.  I had just about already broke out into a sweat just adjusting the bike it was so hot!  I wonder if they have air conditioning.  Anywho the class itself was great.  The instructor Chelsea, was very good.  Very involved!  I like her!  The next training session is on Saturday and the fundraising event is actually on May 5th.  If you would like to support me, please make a donation on my fundraising page...http://www.active.com/donate/lasbest2012/TeamMorrisonKClarke1

Okay so on to the food eating for the day...

Breakfast:
Smoothie (frozen berries, 2 drops full of Liver Detox, 1 tablespoon Pysllium Husk, Apple juice)
     4 hard boiled eggs (yikes)
Regular White chocolate Latte (normally I would get the large, so this is a downsize for me)
     Cheese Danish

No Mid Morning Snack - after all I ate for breakfast there was no need to eat anything else.

Lunch
     Chicken
     Salad w/ salsa for dressing
     Chicken Pasta Salad

No Mid Afternoon Snack

Dinner
Couple pieces of left over chicken from lunch

Workout:
     45 minutes of Indoor Cycling

I think that may be it for tonight.  Maybe another cup of detox tea before going to bed..but I think I will lay low for th rest of the night.

Operation Kill the Kit Kat Tapeworm!

Well gang today, Wednesday April 25th, was kill the Tapeworm day!
I was talking to my sister last night, and I was telling her how I was going to do a detox today since I have been craving all these weird things.  To keep this short, I told her how everyday for maybe the last week, I have been craving Kit Kats.  And I don't eat just a normal size Kit Kat, I eat the King Size Bar!  In the conversation, I told her I think I had a tapeworm that craves only Kit Kats!  I have a Kit Kat Tapeworm!  LOL!  Just had to share that so you can understand the blog title!

So the day did not go 100% as intended with the detox.  But nonetheless, I think my digestive tract and some time to recoup and flush itself.  I started the detox on Tuesday night with my Liver Detox drops in my smoothie.  By 8am, I was already in the bathroom.  My stomach and inward parts were grumbling and making all kinds of strange noises!  By 10am, I had already made 2 trips to the bathroom.  Some kind of reaction was going on inside of me!

So here is how the eating went for the day:

Breakfast:
2 Hard Boiled Eggs
Berry Smoothie (the frozen berry mix, apple juice, 2 drops full of the Liver Detox Tonic, and one drop dull of Liquid Vitamin B Complex)
White Chocolate Latte
My Confession:  I really really tried, not to go get coffee, but I did!

Mid Morning Snack:
Herbal Teas  I seaped a bag of Yogi Peach Detox Tea and Wellments Daily Detox Tea, a little honey, and the juice of one lemon.
Ate an apple

Lunch
Salad..Lettuce, cabbage, carrots, cheese, and Albacore tuna w/ my own homemade dressing (details later)

Mid Afternoon/Pre-Workout Snack
an apple

After Workout Snack
Some baby carrots, I didn't count them

Dinner
Another Berry Smoothie(like this morning, except no Vitamin B Complex)

Workouts
50 minutes of Spinning
15 minutes of treadmill (something came over me, I got on the treadmill after spin class...CRAZINESS)

The Homemade Dressing Story...
Lunch time comes and I realize I had no salad dressing!  I asked some people at work for dressing and I was offered a some Raspberry Vinagrette.  It looked a little strange, but I said made it needed to be shaken.  I shook it up and the lumps didn't go away.  I started looking for an expiration date...it expired March 26, 2012.    So that was a no go.

Well I have a small bottle of olive oil & I had my Apple Cider Vinegar at teh office, so I made my own dressing! Used some Olive Oil, the vinegar, salt, pepper, and lemon juice and voila...Salad Dressing!  It was pretty tasty!  I amaze myself!

The day is almost over and for right now, I am feeling okay. I don't know if the tapeworm is dead, but I may  try this tomorrow.  I shall see how I feel in the morning.  I will drink another cup of Detox tea before I go to bed.  I will be up for a few more hours, its Criminal Minds and Hot in Cleveland Night.  But so far, I have drank 104 ounces of water, and  had 3 trips to the bathroom.  So that is all for now.  Talk to you later!

Making my way back...

Hey gang...Well it has been a rough 3-4 weeks here personally.  I can't remember how much I "blogged" about my apartment issues.  But just to keep the story short, I have been living out of boxes for 2 weeks, Sleeping on an air matress for about a month now.  It was a hard transition, a vast mix of emotions, alot of heart ache, pain, and tears.

Over the weekend, I decided its time to get back to a routine.  Now that I am slowing unpacking my apartment, I now have access to my pots & pans, cups, my oven, its time to cook at home and stop eating out, which is such an expensive thing to do.  Even with the best of intentions of eating healthy while dining out, it is rather hard to do, when I can't tell how things are really being.  Things that sound healthy at places, aren't necessarily heatlhy.  Salads as we all know can be a death trap of calories with all the stuff they add to it!

So yesterday, was my first day of back to preparing my own food and getting my tail outside to get some workouts in.  Does anyone else struggle with working out in the winter?  The cold just adds a whole other hurdle to overcome in excercising!

In True Form, here is my recap of what I ate on Monday Nov 14th..not a perfect food day...

Breakfast
     Cup of Coffee

Mid Am Snack
     2 Tomatoes
     Mushroom Cap (I love mushrooms)

Lunch
Kale Salad (Oh how I missed eating you)  It was delish!

Afternoon Snack (b-day celebration @ work)
     Slice of Strawberry shortcake

Dinner
     Chicken
     1 tomato
     pepsi

Now that I have logged this, for some odd reason, I have been craving tomatoes.  Hmm!  But I do love the little boogers.

Workout
     45 min Neighborhood Walk

On another note I wanna share my victory over this past weekend.  I had signed up for a charity spinnning event called Sweat for A Vet.  I signed up to spin for 3 hours...and I successfully completed it!  It was hard!  The 3rd hour was by far the hardest and I almost felt like I was gonna pass out.  But I completed all 3 hours!  Yeah Me!

Talk you guys later!

Absolutely Astonished!

I am posting early today, I want to be done with all my chores so I can watch Criminal Minds without any interruptions. I just got home from spin class. I could not make my 3:30p personal training session with Jen, so I had to at least get some cardio in.

Today is one of those days I look back on and say, wow, how did I do it? I am sure you heard to talk about how intense spin class is. But can you believe I did 2 sessions today? I actually got up early, and hit the 5:30am class. Went about my day, and made a late evening session, and made it through both! I don't know how though...getting through one class is hard enough. Nonetheless, I am grateful!

So here is today's eats:

Breakfast: Coffee and an apple

Lunch: Salad (spring mix, tomato, cucumber, chicken lemon juice for dressing)

Dinner: Same as lunch, with a piece of melba toast.

Workouts
  • 40 minutes of early morning spinning @ 24 hour fitness - Hawthorne
  • 60 minutes of evening spinning @ 24 hour fintess - Hawthorne
Nothing else to really report today. It was my usual unevenful busy day. I did start working on website project for a friend. That was kind of cool. That is my new creative outlet. Well that is all for now, going to hit the shower, put on my jammies and get ready for Criminal Minds.

See you Lighter!

Morning After Pill for Workouts....I need one!

Recap of Wed Sept 21!
Wow...what a day!  I have decided that there needs to be another Morning After Pill out on the market.  You know a pill you can take in the morning after a grusome workout.  The workout that has you so sore, you can't bend your legs, waist arms, to get yourself out of bed.  Have you been there?  Are you feeling my pain right now?  If you have any connections to any of the major drug companies...please pitch the idea!  I will be a life long customer, if they make such a pill!

Breakfast:  Coffee, Bagel w/ Cream Cheese

Mid Am Snack:  1 Roma Tomato

Lunch:  Salmon & Kale Salad (Kale, cucumbers, tomato, Feta Cheese, Dill weed, Avocado, Braggs ACV, Juice of 1 lemon, dash of salt & Pepper)

Mid Afternoon Snack:  Cucumber w/ salsa

Dinner:  Chicken (more chicken than I should have probably eaten)

Workout:  60 minutes Indoor Cycling...24 hour fitness in Hawthorne!!! What What!
First Class in like 2 weeks.  This was an unplanned workout.  I had a meeting until about 7pm today, but the schedule changed and I became free as a bird!  Then I was torn...should I train with Jen @ 6 or should I go to Cycling?  Decisions Decisions! I chose Cycling!

My Miscellaneous Rant:  It was the Season Premier of Criminal Minds!  One of my favorite shows on TV to watch.  It was so so so good!  I love the the BAU team is back together, JJ, & Prentiss have returned and the group is staying together...Hooray!

One of my Better Days...workouts, small victories, Defect

Well gang..this is one of the better days I have had in a few weeks.  I kinda have alot I want to blog about not sure where to start!

SMALL VICTORIES
I went for a pedicure today.  Today, I was able to fit in the seat with both arms down!  Normally I have to keep on of hte chair arms down cause my hips didn't fit in the chair!

DEFECT
Well I made it to spin class today. First class in about 2 weeks.  As I was on the bike spinning my little heart out.  The pedal broke!  Yes the Pedal broke!  I heard a crack and next thing I knew hte pedal was on the floor!  At first I thought I broke it cause I was too fat, but after talking to my sister, I decided maybe its a defect on the bike!  Either way..it was not a pleasant feeling!

WORKOUTS
I did well today..3 workouts in!
